Weird. Did you go to Preston Hollow?
My wife went to Northwestern, and shared a dormitory with Dermot Mulroney and David Schwimmer. My sister-in-law was good friends with Audra McDonald way before she was even pre-famous.
Joe
I lived in the same college dorm with Christopher Reeve, long before he became Superman.
A woman I dated for a while became an astronaut quite a few years later.
I played touch football against a kid who grew up to be a current Senator from PA. I was 10, he was a few years older. It was summer and I was visiting Lake Ariel. His father was a congressman then. He had a good arm.
Tom Cruise transferred into my highschool his sophmore year. Doubt he’d remember me; twenty-five years will do that though.
Heh, I went to NU, and lived in Schwimmer’s room in Willard – albeit some 10 years after he’d vacated it.
Small world: when his family moved to Kansas, his parents became friends with my parents. I only ever met Paul once though, and he was already famous by that time.
I went to highschool with Jensen Buchanan, of soap opera fame, and with KK Dodds, who’s been in everything from Spiderman to NYPDBlue and Grosse Point Blank. My cousin is Patrika Darbo, who has a very long list of credits. My best friend in college was David Sedaris. I’ve met both Cusack siblings a couple times, the first time when Joan had a bit part in My Bodyguard.
A classmate of mine is now filming his second long movie (has several shorts, as well as work in advertisement); he’s won several prizes for the first.
So is he on his third marriage then? Beth was his second wife?
One of the lads I chat with on another board has just had a film he wrote released into cinemas.
It got pretty good reviews, so hopefully he’ll be “proper famous” before too long!
Awesome! I make a point of listening to any radio program that he’s on…one of the best storytellers I’ve ever heard.
I went to school with Rhian Williams, who has 62 caps for the Welsh Women’s Rugby team (she plays Centre), and has captained Wasps.
I talked with Audra after Broadway on Broadway 1993, when she was in the chorus of Carousel. I told her that I knew she was going to be a huge Broadway star and I made a point of getting her name.
A friend of mine currently does costumes for that theatre.
AND, I used to live in Brighton.
As for the OP, back in high school, I used to hang out with some of the Mighty Mighty Bosstones, although at that time they weren’t mighty. I dated one of them for an extremely short (by adult standards) time.
He did. I meant that he hung out in Brighton with friends with whom he went to school.

OK, got it. I was sure he lived there.
I remember when he was at the height of his popularity. He came home to visit his mom, and somehow word got out. Taking the bus home that day sucked. The streets were lousy with teenyboppers.
Glenn Howerton from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia was a good friend in high school of my closest friend. By all accounts a generally nice guy- kind of a straight drama-queen like a lot of theater types, but decent.
I went to school from the age of 5 to 18 with Rick Warden who was in Band of Brothers and Rome amongst others. He was a nice guy.

I’ve met both Cusack siblings a couple times, the first time when Joan had a bit part in My Bodyguard.
Nitpick: there are five Cusack siblings, all of whom have been in movies, and three of whom have substantial resumes (Joan, John, and Ann).
-When I was in grade 11, my friends and I used to party in London (ontario) most weekends. A lot of the parties we’d go to had generally the same group of guys, mostly made up of London Knights (OHL team). I used to hang out with Jason Allison a lot at these parties. Pretty good guy, I’d be surprised if he’d remember me now though. He went on to play in the NHL for a while.
-When I was 12 or 13 I used to play hockey against Joe Thornton. Every now and again you run into people who say they played against NHL players when they were young. Invariably they say that they were better than the NHL was at the time but in this case, Joe Thornton was really really good.
-one of my high school friends boxed in the 2004 Olympics. He even won a few matches. I guess he isn’t tom cruise famous, but I guarantee a lot more people know him than me.
-In the recent short we are in the midst of putting the finishing touches on, an actor we used recently got a series of cellphone adds that air nationally. He’s really talented, I’d be surprised if he wasn’t famous.

Of course; I just meant, lazily, “the two you’ve all heard of.”
