Every Girl Crazy 'Bout A Sharp Dressed MMP

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s currently 24c/75f with no predicted change, and partly cloudy. Weather app says “Holy fucking shit! It fucking rules outside”.

Happy Browniversary, doggio I’m sure Spot approves of your devoted service in the pursuit of giving him dry, flavourless bits.

metal mouse happy and safe travels, hope you enjoy your brief visit to my side of the pond!

I’ve had a very busy day, not surprising since we are into Exam Boards week so there’s lots to do and lots of loose ends to be tied up. I still have some problem cases but I have workaround solutions for all of them which means everything should still work out fine for my students. We had a small scrutiny meeting this morning to go through the problem children in one of my depts, and the guy who needs to know stuff is happy that I know enough stuff on his behalf!

More excitement to follow during the week, I’m sure. I have already had to cry off Wednesday drinks with my friends as I have back-to-back meetings on Thursday and will need to be up bright and early, so a Wednesday early night is very necessary.

So far today, laundry and grocery shopping has been accomplished and 'im indoors has been deposited at the station for his trains. I’ve just logged out of irk, and I am off to the gym when I’ve finished my cup of tea.

That’ll cost you more, even if it’s your anniversary.

Happy Browniversary, doggio! :package:

Safe travels/have a great trip, Metal Mouse! :airplane: :ship:

I’m working from home on a Monday for the first time in 2.5 months, which means an “early” MMP post! Woot! I’ll be heading to our DC office for a meeting in about 90 minutes, but it was nice to be able to sleep a little later this morning and start work in my jammies like the old days. I have to help set up for tomorrow’s election at 5pm, and as long as the meeting doesn’t run late I should be able to get home, let the dog out, and change before going to the polling place (which is two blocks from my house)…but I’ll put some sandals in a tote bag and keep them in the car, just in case (a) I have to go straight to the polling place and (b) my toe starts feeling sore after an afternoon of wearing real shoes.

Speaking of tonight’s setup, I can’t believe election day is finally tomorrow! I provided my availability 3 months ago, and completed the in-person equipment training/got my assignment 1.5 months ago. I don’t think tomorrow will be busy at all – I’ll have my iPad and Kindle (and chargers) with me, and if things are as quiet as I expect I might be hanging out here a lot  – but it’s still going to be a very long day. I need to try to go to sleep at a decent time tonight, because my alarm will go off at 3:30am. I’m glad I thought ahead and arranged to work from home on Wednesday.

I get that, but you’ll start doing something else soon enough…try to take advantage of the downtime.

HA!

The usual Monday stuff. I stopped and did my Aldi run on the way home. Google is digging trenches and putting down Internet Tubes, weather willing. Spot is less than thrilled.

Safe travels, Metal Mouse!!

No such thing, apart from being in the union makes it more difficult to sack me.

Money? I’m not even getting Perfect Consciousness on my deathbed. And somehow for a second year running, there will be no Cost Of Living Adjustment.

Fully Wordled, multi-puzzled, fed and exercised. Phew!

Had a good visit yesterday with eldest son and his family. His youngest boy has suddenly shown signs of a mustache at age 12. WTH?

MY youngest son forgot my birthday last month and forgot father’s day this month, so I’m a bit unhappy with him. How difficult is it to put a reminder in your phone? I don’t care about either of those events, but I’m a bit put out with his self-centeredness. Got a half-assed apology in a message this morning, probably prompted by his girlfriend, who is a far better person than he deserves. Haven’t answered yet; gonna let him sweat a bit.

Niece Nurse is supposed to come over with lunch today. Hope she gets here before the rain that’s heading our way.

Put in a work order for my bathroom sink. It’s been draining more and more slowly, and yesterday came to a complete halt. Tried plunging it, and some disgusting gunk came up, so I stopped. Maintenance may have to bring in a plumber for this one.

I’m currently having a poodle break this afternoon. My mom and I worked on making some resin keychains and then I decided that it was time for a break. A nap would be good, too, but it probably won’t happen.

Happy Browniversary @dogbutler :brown_heart: :safety_vest:

That’s the best kind of work, right? Glad you’re enjoying it - even the Wikipedia article is long, so I can imagine the slicing and dicing to be quite time consuming.

@The_Stainless_Steel_Rat Looking forward to following your travels for the next two weeks. Hope the flights are boring.

After all that, I hope that Ariel’s back to full health. At least you have OT to look forward to.

After a very humid weekend, and yesterday’s deluge, the humidity has disappeared, so the warm weather is just warm. And it should cool off nicely this evening.

Another short week this week, as Thursday is Happy Cadaver Day aka Corpus Christi. Corpus Christi in German is Fronleichnam (Lord’s body), which is very close to Frohleichnam (Happy Cadaver). More warm weather coming, but no humidity. Berry plants should enjoy it.

Happy Moanday!

Last night we had Birthday Dinner leftovers. Mrs. L.A. had the rest of her filet mignon and most of her creamed spinach. I had the rest of my creamed spinach, and the broccoli and cauliflower The Missus didn’t want. We love the creamed spinach at the steak house. We did Thursday. Last night, I found it a little too salty and too thick. When I make creamed spinach at home, it’s just spinach, some kosher salt, heavy cream, and cubes of feta. The restaurant creamed spinach undoubtedly has creamed cheese in addition to cream, and I suspect they thicken it with flour. I think I like my home version better.

We have a staph beating scheduled for next Tuesday. Only, I’m on vacation that week (and this Friday for my floating holiday, and Monday the 30th.) I reminded La Jefa that three other people are out next week (one on extended maternity leave, and two on PTO). She said that leaves too few attendees for such a small office (like, 12 of us). She hasn’t cancelled the meeting yet though.

Went to Daiso and bought several small things we needed/wanted. I love that place! It carries all kinds of clever gizmos and gadgets, as well as Japanese snacks and candies.

Some pansies we had planted in a whiskey barrel had grown tall and leggy and I was thinking of pruning them back, but decided to just pull them and plant in their place some bright blue lobelia. The barrel of new lobelia sits between some Ferrari-red impatiens and some white begonias, so it’s quite a patriotic color scheme going on in the backyard. Just in time for the 4th of July!

Had a lazy morning, did some online retail therapy, got a cheese steak (no Wizz) for lunch, picked up my exciting purchase of a hang-up shoe rack from Tarzhay, then back home.

About to leave for refueling then a 1-hourish drive to downtown Miami to watch the Marlins play the Phillies. Solo. Sigh. Then back home. Solo. Sigh.

At least tomorrow = Tue GF & I have planned a dinner, low-rent rendezvous, and Wed morning together down in Ft. Lauderdale.

I just finished some (all of the) ground beef-and-broccoli with mayo and Sriracha for lunch.

Thanks for all the well wishes. I am currently sitting in the Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse Lounge, I splurged on First Class and get to sit in comfort as staff brings food and drink. Tried to get an earlier flight but they were full so have about 4 hours to kill (my flight leaves at 9:30pm). And JFK is confusing to navigate, huge and crowded and loud. Got my cardio in. But sitting in a comfy chair looking out at the airport makes it worth the price. Might even take a shower before I leave.

FCM, wet one, going to Norway, Shetland Islands and Belgium on the cruise.

Oopsie, happy electioneering.

Cookie, son may have just forgot,..or not. Hope the sink is salvageble.

Dicey, no promises on when I get to update, I will be on boo fae time, which upon thinking about it puts me close to your schedule. Think I have wi-fi on the cruise but not positive.

Pilot, least you have something to look forward to.

That’s all for now, 4 hours until boarding so glad I brought the last two Sunday NY Times, that should fill the time. Take care all.

Had a light sprinkle this afternoon, along with some very ominous skies:

HUGE fan of those! My whole family has them.

I know, it came fast. I’ll be onsite at my precinct at 0415-0430. I didn’t know that things can get setup the day before….?

T

Back from weekend in Ottawa; has to get up at 4:15 am to catch flight; (that’s 2:15 am Sask time).

Now home. 3 pm Sask time. Very tired.

Hope you other travellers don’t have such bad connections.

@peedin , is this permanent gone with Ariel? :sad_but_relieved_face:

I’m working on a similar project. Not Marx, though. Law!

Just popping in real quick to wish Metal Mouse bon voyage! Hugs to all of you. Hopefully I’ll be back to my regularly scheduled posting time tomorrow.

I live between two Aldi stores. The one in my town (farther than the other) is an older store and I don’t trust any of the produce there. I’ve opened up baby carrots the day they were bought and found them slimy. Cukes are not to be trusted either. The one in Lavergne (town next door, but closer than the one in my town) is a new store and, so far, I’ve bought some good strawberries and a good cantaloupe. I’m thinking it may be store management.

Yay! I hope that she’s feeling better.

Got the paper shredded at Staples today, then popped into Kroger for a few supplies. I also got two checks from :snerk: STD. FINALLY! Next month, I’ll get my first social security check.

Metal mousebetter bring back a pony from the Shetland Islands.

We hope that the meds cleared up Ariel’s ulcers. Unlike people, ulcers in horses are caused by excess stomach acid. The med was omeprazole. The only way to know that the ulcers are gone is to re scope her and I don’t have the money for that. Research says the treatment cures ulcers in over 90% of horse patients.

Except for Trader Joe’s Salmon Pinwheels, I only buy Alaskan wild-caught salmon. We now have two Trader Joe’s in town… but the last few/several times I looked, they only had Atlantic farm-raised salmon. I’m starting to wonder if they’ve become seasonal; or if TJ’s, as they are wont to do, discontinued the wild-caught salmon.
