Everybody Loves Raymond

I’m sure some you remember the episode of ELR where Marie takes the covers off the sofas and the ensuing hilarity that comes from Ray trying to each chips on the bare sofa?

What episode was that?
Can any of you find a video clip of that?

I dunno. But, according to the ads, you can find out for the low, low price of $109.98!
A search brought up nothing. However, if anyone can find this one or my two most favorite ELR episodes-- the one about Ally’s sport league ‘snack rules’ and the one where Ray decides he can do a better job at shopping-- please post the names and a handy guide on how to do find these kinds of things. Thanks.

People have favorite ELR episodes/moments? Isn’t that kind of like having a favorite shade of white?

Maybe its like having a favorite example of thread shitting.

People post to put other people’s taste in sit-coms down? Isn’t that like being rude?

Sorry–I didn’t intend this as saying it was a bad show. Just that on the SDMB, there’s a running joke of ELR being very bland–you know, not the kind of thing anyone could really love or hate. It’s just there.

I’ve never noticed anyone saying it’s bland. Usually people unrestrainedly express their hatred, which baffles me because I really enjoy it. Anyway, here’s an episode guide.

That’s kind of the opposite of what I’ve seen here. I loved the show but many, many hated it. They hated what they saw as mean characters who were not at all likable.

But there is something completely hilarious about watching passive/agressive Raymond lose his shit over team snacks. It was great to see such a real and not very niceynice, group-hug family. As was watching each of them get their come-uppance for their very personal and individual flaws. It was comedy based on people and not punchlines.

Oh, and I believe this is what you’re looking for, Enright3.

there are tons of ways to do the search, for approved snack and sofa covers, just plain googled them. “everybody loves raymond sofa covers off”, “everybody loves raymond snack rules”. Can’t find the ray does the shopping one. But I was insane in finding the answer I would pretty much use tv.com go through each episode recap of the season most likely it was seen in.

I hate the show because it’s bland. I don’t hate the writing or performances, since they’re all…adequate. ELR is, to me, the sort of show that you’d get if you built a supercomputer capable of mathematically extracting an average, successful sitcom. I hate it because, to me, it exemplifies safe, unchallenging, mass-targeted programming, and there’s nothing I find less fun to watch.

But, hey, to each their own. I don’t look down on anybody for liking it.

Well come on – if you’re going to mention the show here, and you want it to stay on topic, then you’d better establish a “no bashing” clause right off the bat. :stuck_out_tongue:

Wait – there was hilarity at some point on ELR?

You guys are amazing! Your Google Fu is strong! How did you find it?

This is FREAKING HILARIOUS (to me), and I wanted to pass it along to someone.

You’re single, right? Trust me, if you’ve been in a situation with an overbearing mother in law, there are a lot of hilarious moments in the show.

I’m happy to say, I’m one of the people who laughed out loud many times because of ELR. Maybe it’s only enjoyable to people who can identify with the characters.

I’ve never been a 16th century English aristocrat (or 18th century English butler) and I still manage to find Blackadder hilarious.

ELR is funny, as is King of Queens, Malcolm in the middle, the drew carey show. People can bash all they want but that’s their opinion.

I think the best ELR episode/moment is the PMS one.

So? Some comedy is more situational than others. Some of it depends a lot more on the audience identifying with the characters.

I think ELR is pretty average but with moments of absolute hilarity (usually involving Robert).
