Everyone needs a hobby. How weird can they get?

I came across this. Daily Levitation, the site of a young Japanese woman who takes photos of herself “levitating.” Apparently, since the shots aren’t faked, it can take her up to 300 exposures to get the right image.

Although there is something oddly restful about the pics it seems a strange way to use your time.

Any other odd ones you know about?

I don’t find that very odd. I thought of it more as art - very creative and eye-catching actually. I can see that it’s worth her time.

Wow! Those are really, really awesome!

I agree that crosses the line from hobby to honest-to-god art. That it also happens to be her hobby (doing it every day, posting them to a blog instead of submitting them to an art school) is secondary. It looks like she hasn’t done one in a couple of months, though. I hope she starts again! Or that she got a job offer based on her portfolio.

I really like those, I’m also hoping she starts it up again.

I’m hoping the damn page will load for me sometime this year so I can have a look at cool art.

Link doesn’t work for me either.

If you want some weirdness that artists do with their lives, try Home Design Spring 2011: Extreme Décor - Six spaces, six obsessions

On a scale of weird in which photographing yourself hopping is a 2, these are 8.7.

The levitation photos are pretty cool…

But there are a couple that, due to having the head and shoulders out of frame, and the legs and arms hanging straight, end up looking more like she was hanged, rather than levitating. >_>

(Maybe I’m just morbid, though.)
