The sad thing about this is that hajario, because he over-reacted got an unwarranted warning put on someone.
I’m not intimately familiar with BPC, but I do know he doesn’t deserve to be pushed closer to banning for this. Also it was impressive the way douchebags like Fenris and Shodan started their feeding frenzy when they smelled his blood in the water.

The trouble is how the pattern of your relationships is perceived by others. They may seem innocuous to you, but from the outside and for those of us who have been in and out of relationships, good and bad, for a while now, your apparent dating of only troubled teenage girls trips a lot of meters. Then when the mob breaks out the torches and pitchforks, for a few people it’s only a short jump from “dates vulnerable schoolgirls” to “burn the pedo”.
It’s not good for your own well-being, either, always trying to save the ones with broken wings. You need a relationship between equals where both of you bring something strong as well as helping each other in need, not just acting out the roles of victim and rescuer: that’s not good for either person Why not give yourself a break from the pattern a while? Step back from the relationships for a bit to stop and work out what it is that you want from a partner.
He didn’t get a warning put on anyone. All he did was start a discussion in ATMB, which is the proper procedure in such matters. Warnings come from moderators and as I understand it, a number of them discussed the matter in their mod loop and came to a consensus. So, hajario didn’t get the warning put on BPC, it was a group of people tasked with the responsibility of looking at the post and at BPC’s posting history and making that determination, whether you agree with it or not. To saddle hajario with the blame is utterly ludicrous.
Without the outrage overreaction, I find it unlikely that the Mods would have gone further than the note they initially levied.

Bullshit. The mods didn’t have to do anything. They could have said, “Hajario, you’re overreacting. It was a joke. We’ll let the mod note stand.” They’re not compelled to take action when a poster brings something to their attention. All he did was make them take a second look. He doesn’t have mind control abilities over anyone.
I agree. I have no fight in this dog, but the usual cry from the masses here is that TPTB don’t do anything for too long and only end up taking action when it’s far past the point they should. Cesario anyone?

Minimally making that sort of “joke” in a thread that had nothing to do with antiSemitism is being both a jerk and an idiot. It is “edgy” humor in the same way that someone posting to a thread about the president with “And he loves watermelon! /EdgierthanBismuth” would be. Out of the blue offensiveness on the premise that offensive is automatically funny or is okay if you qualify it as a joke. That watermelon comment could be made by someone whose grandparents are all Black (to use BPC’s formulation), by someone who does not think of himself as a racist at all, and still it does not change the jerkish nature of posting the comment.
I have no idea if BPC is 20 or 50, if he is Jewish, or of Jewish heritage, or a neoNazi, or a predator of developmentally disabled underaged girls, or a fictional creation of someone who can’t keep his story straight, or what. But this one warning was neither the critical straw nor the only one if the back gets broken later. I am meh either way with warning versus commenting don’t do it again, but by now he (if he is a he or a supermodel) knows that thin ice is under his feet. One would have thought that previous discipline would have given that message. I had thought that once someone was suspended ANY additional warning once back meant banning … they are giving him another chance anyway … this is apparently a warning lite. Will he handle it as a warning light? One can only hope. But seriously, if he hasn’t got it by now, why should this extra chance make a difference?

One thing that you need to do is stop trying to justify yourself to a bunch of anonymous harpies on a message board. (You would do well to not bring your personal problems to a message board, to begin with, particularly one noted for its high percentage of sarcastic and cynical posters. However, having made that error, your best bet is to ignore the worst of the bunch.)
There are certain posters who live for the excitement of tearing down other people. They will continue to badger you about stuff you have said just for the fun of demonstrating (to themselves; no one else cares), how superior they are to you.
Nothing you can say will ever get them to stop.
Posting defenses will only whet their appetites for your blood.
They are willing to distort your words so that they can attack a version of you that does not exist.
There is no defense against them, because they are not interested in facts or honest debate.
Your only viable course is to ignore them:
Do not post on your errors in life.
Do not try to “explain” what “really” happened or what you “really” said; they do not care and they will only use your words to accuse you of lying or to invent new horrible scenarios for which to attack you.
Simply ignore them.
Do not bring any such topics up, yourself.
If they try to interject those topics into separate discussions, do not respond.
Ignore them.
Anything and everything you post will be used against you. Do not post about your own life. Do not defend your posts or your actions.
No one who matters cares. Only the jackals are interested. Why feed them?

Because I know of at least one person who I corrected on this issue. I don’t like being perceived as a pedophile or a pervert, and I think the one thing I can do that’s worse than correcting these accusations when they come up is to ignore them and let them fester. I never bring it up myself; I just point out how they’re wrong and why in the hopes that sooner or later it becomes very uncool to keep accusing me of being a pedophile.

I’m sure there are plenty of people reading this who have less than favorable opinions of me but the opinions of strangers doesn’t really matter to me.

Not *all *old people. And certainly not all young people would understand it. If you don’t, that doesn’t mean you’re a shitty person, it means you don’t get something. And tragically, because of that ignorance, what I’d characterize as an injustice got done.
