I appreciate the sentiments Súil Dubh. I do. The intensity of this pitting has ramped up some and now we’re seeing a pile-on. But please consider:
Mister Nyx’s core competence is insulting people and the board. So there’s some payback going on here.
But moreover nyx is either,
a) a troll or
b) somebody with delusions regarding the quality of his argument.
If the answer is a), then no harm, no foul in my view: he’s getting a smackdown. But to the extent that the answer is b), this is a growth opportunity. I kid when I say that – but I’m kidding on the square. Nyx’s argument style is a bit slippery, so he might not have a clear sense that he’s acting like a jackass. It would be better for him to know that – really. It would. For such a condition is in theory correctable. He could level up.
He insults the entire board, several times, and you call it a “couple of people?” This is the pit. Shit like that happens here. Take your e-rage and stick it up your tightly puckered ass dipstick.
Oh, I completely agree. The guy is being a twit and deserves to get called out for it.
And you make a good point when you say “acting like a jackass”. I’ve read posts he’s made where he comes across as a smart enough guy. I thought about going back and re-editing my previous claim that he “was a nitwit” to “acting like a nitwit” but then beer happened.
But the whole “Let’s make fun of the unpopular kid! Get him!” vibe to this thread is head-hangingly pathetic.
Because really, why would other people who don’t know him step up and defend him against specific claims?
Hell, I may be best friends with someone in real life, but if someone makes specific claims about him in an area I know nothing about, I’m going to let him provide his own answers.
I’m certainly not going to leap to the defense of someone I know nothing about and defend them against claims I have no personal knowledge of. Well, excepting of course unless the claims are over the top or ridiculous. I will for the record state that I do not believe that Nyx is a transmogrified Panda-Cyborg serial killer who eats babies for breakfast and regularly sleeps with a potato, even if parts of that statement are at least remotely possible.
It’s a reference to Otto. I don’t know enough about it other than he “stole” $20 as a joke, or something, and no one believed it was just a joke, or a sole occurrence, etc. Whatever the truth was, it was one of those watershed posts which sinks an entire posting career.
You’re wasting your time. He’s already demonstrated that he’s impervious to statistical mathematics. As someone upthread said, he’s only barely able to drool and mouthbreath outside a classroom that’s teaching statistics. He’s totally incapable of actually understanding it. We are witnessing Ignorance (of the willful variety) in the wild, here. There is no point in engaging this moron. Nothing short of a clue-by-four across his head (and I have serious doubt even that will work) is going to wise him up. Just point and laugh. It’s all he’s good for.
