Excluding folders from a search in Windows Outlook?

I use Windows Outlook to handle emails at work. I have a folder where I store daily emails that I get, which are full of data. Let’s call that folder “Data”. I also frequently search through my emails, as in several times an hour.

Unless I am IN the Data folder, I don’t want to ever search on the contents of the Data folder. Is there a way to set up a folder as unsearchable? I’ve tried using the settings–>filter to block the Data folder, but I can’t get the filter to be persistent. Does anyone know of a way to do that? Through a filter or even through folder structure. I’m open to just about any ideas. Thanks.

Which version of Outlook? On what OS?
