I am considering splurging (and I do mean splurging!) on a Stressless recliner by Ekornes. They start around $2500 and go up probably to around $4000. I have looked at online reviews, and depending on the site, the reviews are either all 5 stars or all 1 star. The 1-star reviews I found on one site claimed that the quality of current leather and/or top soft foam is no longer good and degenerates after a couple of years, and that the vendor or manufacturer (it was often not clear which) would not fully honor the warranty. I am as suspicious of that site as I am of the vendor that had all 5-star reviews.
So on the off chance that anyone here has bought one of these in the past 5 years or so, please report in. I am aware that there are about a zillion different models (and 2 or 3 sizes per model) and that I need to go plant my butt in a bunch of these different models to find one that fits me. What I am interested in is quality and durability, whether they hold up like they apparently did 20 or 25 years ago.
