Explain a Three Stooges Joke (I Didn't Get It)

I can’t tell you because its a number too large to comprehend. Quite beyond calculation.

I stand in utter awe of the OP.

It’s like complaining about not “getting” the humor in calling a 6’7" 350 lb. man “Tiny”.

…and instead they did what was quoted in the OP.

While we’re here, I’ve got a question about another Stooges line, that I wonder if there’s more to it.

I think it’s in the one where the Stooges have a dog-washing business, and accidentally kidnap a baby.

Anyway, Moe mutters to himself

Is that just a “nothing” aside? It seems punctuated like it’s a reference to another line or something. What say dopers?

It was Moe’s idea, and even he doesn’t like it.

Again, not hilarious, but smirkworthy.

Pretty much a “nothing” aside, IMHO.

One of my fave one-offs: the boys are detectives, walking into a bar looking for crooks:

Moe: “We need to give this place a good…uh…what’s a good word for ‘scrutiny’?”

Shemp: “Scrutiny!”

:smack::smiley:

Yeah, if you’re looking for Wilde/Shaw levels of witty banter, the Stooges aren’t the place to look.

Aw hell… the whole rest of the day is shot now.

Yeah, it’s just that’s a weird one. It’s a close up of Moe, and that line is the only reason for the shot. They put real effort into getting that line in there.

I try to think but nothing happens!

Hurray! I’m FREE! (drops Rosewood club and runs)
