Hoi hoi, Brian! Welcome back to a thread that I thought you had orphaned.

What I meant, of course, is that most people posting here, in this thread, expressed some degree of disagreement with you.

To me, it looked as if you fled this thread on Oct. 25, after hurling an insult at Melin and Jodi, apparently frustrated that not everyone wants to join in the fun of calling Jodi more names.

But I guess you were just lurking, sulking, whatever.

By my count, the following people posted to disagree with your assertion that Jodi is a hypocrite: Melin, Majormd, Phaedrus, Jodi, Vegforlife, and myself. Total: 7.

In addition, the following people posted to disagree with your assertion that no reasonable person could misinterpret your posts or your intentions by posting as ‘‘Satan’’: Kaylasdad, Doctor Jackson. Total: 2.

In comparison, the following people posted here solely to chime in on their agreement with you: Pooch, Monty, Coldfire, Sealemon88, and John. To be generous, I’ll throw in E Romero and Pldennison, who were not completely clear. Total: 7.

Since you want to pick nits, my count is 9-7. But it doesn’t matter. I don’t think you’re interested in hearing what I’m really saying. Instead, you accuse me of saying things I never said, and you draw erroneous and unfounded conclusions about my beliefs.

Ironic, isn’t it, that this is exactly what you accuse Jodi of doing?

Not that I’m calling you a hypocrite or anything.

That makes my count 8-7, not 9-7.

If you throw in yourself, I guess it would be 8-8, a tie.

Hmmm. Stephen King was right… sometimes they do come back. On Halloween, too.

Melin: has a grudge against Satan.

Temujin & MajorMD: are both biased against Satan from the start because of the username.

Phaedrus: is a racist, gay-bashing troll. You don’t want him on your side.

Kaylasdad:When, exactly did he support your case. K.D. posted 4 times, 2 jokes, and 2 times against your side. Are there posts only you can see?

E. Romero & Pldennison: seem to clearly support Satan’s point of view. Pl. makes an anlogy that strengthens Satan’s point of view, and E. R. made a sarcastic remark about Melin’s need for the last word.

Misc: The fact that he said, ‘Melin spewed’, is fairly meaningless, since that’s SOP for the Pit.

Conclusion: Feel free to try to cut down Satan’s side like this, but after my preliminary cuts, things stand:
Unbiased, reasonable supporters:
Satan: 7 (not including him)
Jodih: 2 (not including her)

I have tried to explain to Brian why a reasonable person might read more into his comments then he intends, because he identifies himself as ‘‘Satan.’’ Doctor Jackson did exactly the same thing, but I notice you don’t even mention that. BTW, Brian disagrees with me and Doctor Jackson (and others). He contends that NO reasonable person would EVER read anything into the comments of someone who calls himself ‘‘Satan.’’

I’ll explain it yet again: Just because I describe how someone could misinterpret Brian’s posts, that doesn’t mean I do so. Frankly, I think I’ve demonstrating a real willingness to take Brian’s words at face value. By telling me that you think I am biased against Brian ‘‘from the start,’’ you are ignoring everything I’ve written.

Or are you just trying to be funny, because this is the pit?

I’m not going to dispute your count. As I said, it doesn’t really matter. But it is clear to me that more than just two people disagreed with Brian here in this thread.

And as I already explained, my intended point was that it looked like Brian fled this thread in frustration because so many people were not playing along with his little game. But you ignore this, too. You also ignored the following comment from Kaylasdad, in which he outright contradicts statements that Brian has made:

Brian still insists that no reasonable person could misintepret his OP, in case you hadn’t noticed. His last claim on this subject was that Jodi and I are the only two to whom it seemed unclear. He thinks his OP was crystal clear, and he gets angry when someone suggests otherwise.

In addition, he has leapt to the erroneous conclusion that I misinterpreted his OP. In doing so, he does exactly the same thing to me that he accuses Jodi of doing to him. And he sees nothing hypocritical about this.

So what am I to think, John? Just having a little fun in the pit? Are are you really as unclear in your thinking as your post suggests?

You’re right, Kaylasdad did say you’d made your point. Then he added about 3 paragraphs criticizing you for not letting this go. It doesn’t really seem to me that he’s on your side. As you said, the numbers aren’t really the point. But your main point, that Satan ran away because he was losing, is invalid. You were the one who thought counting would clarify that. Everyone quit this thread, because it is an exercise in futility.

If you don’t think you and MajorMD are biased, fine. I’m not sure why you brought up the fact that Dr. J did the same thing. Did you want me to exclude Dr. J from your count? I assume you admit that Melin’s presence here is based on a grudge against Satan?

The point of my post was to challenge your count. As I said, you are welcome to challenge mine. A discussion might actually accomplish something… but I won’t hold my breath.

IMHO (as all this is), Satan did not get angry because Jodi (and others) didn’t understand his post. He got mad because they wouldn’t drop it once he clarified.

Jodih seems to have let this go. Satan had backed out until you claimed that if he stopped posting here he was admitting he lost the argument. Why don’t we take a hint from the people who started this fight and just buy out? You or anyone else can jump in with the last word; I sure don’t want it. Let’s just get this done with. I should have let your post go. It was 2 am, so I wasn’t thinking completely clearly.

For the record, MELIN does not admit that “Melin’s presence here is based on a grudge against Satan.” Until the first post that I made in this thread, I don’t believe that Satan and I had had any interaction whatsoever. As I stated someplace up toward the beginning of this thread (I think), I jumped into this discussion simply because I saw it as a matter of semantics, with a distinction to be made between the two proferred sentences that nobody else was at that time either able or willing to acknowledge. Had I realized that I was jumping into the midst of the satan vs. jodih war, I assure you I would have clicked right past.

BUT, having gotten embroiled in providing what I thought was a straightforward, reasonable, possibly technical differentiation between the statements, the “spewing” that came forth came from Satan. As E. Romero so sweetly complimented me in one of her emails to me recently, I do like to win, and I am persistent (it’s what makes me a good lawyer). Thus, when Satan, unreasonably and unfairly, I thought, attacked me, as did Kaylasdad, I responded. I later apologized if my response was hastily based on a miscommunication. The response I got from Satan to that apology was more abuse.

Speaking of E. Romero: She registered on October 26, one day after sending me a nasty email complaining that I was standing up for Dr. Sue in the General Questions thread “For Sue In El Paso” by demanding an apology from Nickrz for his slurs on her there. She refused to identify herself any further, even after a polite request to do so. Clearly this person has another presence on this board, and chooses to make her attacks hiding behind a brand new screen name. Her profile identifies, as of this post, four posts made by her. Unfortunately the search engine won’t take me to those posts, but I’ve seen one of the others, and it also was an attack on me. A personal attack; no discussion, no reasoned argument, no statement of differences, just a snide personal attack. I won’t be surprised to find the remaining two posts are similar. I guess I’ve acquired a pet troll too. A cowardly one, though.

I think that if one takes everything Brian has said in this & other threads in toto this semi-retraction sounds pretty weak & strained, but that’s strictly my opinion.

Sorry, Melin, I didn’t realize that this thread was your first encounter with Satan. I’ve noticed that you seem to pop up to argue with him a lot, often with little motivation. I didn’t know that this thread was the source of your animosity, rather than an outgrowth of it.

Melin, Major, have you finished responding to my 2:00 AM post? If so, I’ll respond to anything Phaedrus has to say to me and then never set foot in the thread again.

John, I’m assuming much of what you’re posting is not seriously intended, since we’re in the pit.

Brian got pretty angry pretty quickly in the original thread, even though Jodi started out being nice. Look at his last post on Page 1. He wasn’t interested in merely explaining what he meant. He was looking for a fight. Jodi gave it to him. If anything, he should thank her.

But this has all been covered. Apparently, you chose not to read most of what I’ve written. That’s fine. You don’t have to.

The bottom line is that Brian repeatedly said he was angry at Jodi because (among other reasons):

  1. she continued to misinterpret his posts EVEN AFTER he explained them;
  2. she claimed he believed something that he did not believe; and
  3. she continued to maintain he believed it even when he repeatedly said he didn’t.
    That was a big part of Brian’s complaint about Jodi. It’s why he called her an idiot and a hypocrite.

Guess what: He did exactly the same thing to me.

I tried to be helpful. As someone else noted in the other thread, I tried to pour oil on troubled water and help Brian understand why someone might misunderstand him.

Clearly, it was a waste of time. He (and others) responded by getting angry at me.

Now, I am doing what he did: explaining myself over and over, and still being told by you and others what (in your opinion) I really think. Only I’m being more reasonable about it than Brian was with Jodi. I’m not calling people names. I’m not looking for a fight.

But since this is the pit, I’ll be blunt: You are acting like a hypocrite. Brian is acting like a hypocrite.

You’re both doing to me exactly what you accuse Jodi of doing to Brian. Apparently, neither of you has the courage or the sense of honesty to admit it.

Do you NOT want this to end, Temujin? Every time it looks like this will just die, you challenge people, putting them in a position were their options are a) by their silence, admit they are worthless wretches and you are right or b) come back into the damn thing. I HAVE read the whole thing- I even read the original thread before it became this mess (as did you)- and that is why I am so incredibly sick of it.

FTR, Jodih referred to Satan as willfully ignorant in her first post on this. Not “nice” by my standards.

But I don’t care anymore. I was going to check back here occaisonally. I’m still trying to clean up the mess I made when I posted late at night and ticked people off.
But I’m not interested in arguing with you anymore. Say whatever in here about me you want, call me names, whatever. I’m never reading it again. You can always email me, but you get no guarentee of a response.
