A few days ago I was at an event in London, in the middle of a large crowd I saw the following slogan on a t-shirt.
Turn Prague into seattle
Any ideas what this might mean?
- A prayer for constant rain in Prague?
- A suggestion to move Microsoft there?
- A desire to build a Space Needle there?
- A wish for more coffee shops?
Or something else?
Probably a reference to the Anti-Globalization protests in Seattle several years ago. Didn’t Prague have a meeting of the G-8 recently?
Never heard that one, but…
- Prague wishes they had a winning baseball team too
- Prague is conservative, and the sloganeer wishes it were more liberal
- Prague wishes it was as nice a place to live as Seattle
- They really really really need a monorail in Prague
Rik in Wenatchee, not far from Seattle
Oh wait - a quick Google search on the slogan in question revealed:
Turn Prague Into Seattle!
I would guess that the shirt wearer was a Socialist.
It’s a reference to the World Trade Organization meeting in Prague, and the huge demonstrations held at the similiar meeting in Seattle.
