Jesus Christ. Some people make me realize that I’ve done nothing worthwhile with my life. Nothing.
MSNBC is showing video of the guy with his legs blown off being run to an ambulance. I don’t know if they realize they are showing it, or if they are doing it on purpose and just not pointing it out. It’s not in the center of the video, but it is clear for anyone to see.
He’s the guy that almost set himself ( and a military vehicle ) on fire the day the casualty assistance officers came to tell him of his son’s death, and to this day he gets a lot of undeserved flak for those actions. I hope the people who never had any sympathy for him in his moment of grief saw what he did today and are kicking themselves for their cruelty.
Boston Globe reporting that federal, state, and local law enforcement are searching a building in Revere. Other sources say it’s a federal search warrant being executed.
crap. After avoiding that link, I think the photo just showed up in my Facebook feed… (Also a guy in a cowboy hat, right?)
Yeah. Wow, I can’t imagine just sharing that out in my Facebook feed. Some people have no sense.
Yeah, that would be the one. Sorry you had it sprung on you like that.
You know the link of the wheel chair guy. I am honestly unable to react to that. Ware breaking his leg was nasty and made me want to puke. But that wheelchair picture? That is just crappy special effects, that isn’t something that happened to the real legs of a real man. As much as I look at it, as many angles as possible, my brain just refuses to accept it as real. I have no idea what that says about my sanity, but I am unable to accept that as reality, I look at that and my brain just finds more and more reasons to not want to believe it.
I’m not able to find this on the Globe website. Any chance you have a link?
I notice that they’ve since blurred the legless man’s face in that photo.
I hope that doesn’t mean he died. I have to admit, looking at that photo, my first reaction was, “I feel like I am severely invading this person’s privacy by viewing this.”
Anyone else immediately think of Four Lions…?
Really hard to watch, now.
It’s in the live blog. I can’t figure out how to link to any particular item there.
Graphic picture from another angle of the unnamed guy whose leg got blown up: (breaking link and spoilering it, don’t look on a full stomach, you’ve been warned)

And I think he’s dead, now… people are saying he’s the man who brought the death count up to three. Died during surgery, goes the rumor.
I’m disgusted by all the graphic photos being posted at every message board and social news website. Apparently the dignity of the victims means nothing to the gore pornographers.
Every terror group would be proud to have such busy minions working for their cause.
I got to work half an hour ago and the first thing after “hello” was “what have you heard about Boston?” - I hadn’t heard anything yet, having gone to bed before it happened.
On my own behalf and my coworkers’, this sucks so royally we’re out of words
A dorm buddy of mine from college crossed the finish line literally 2 seconds BEFORE the bomb went off! My best friend had also been going to go to Copley, but decided to stop for a drink…
Photography is meant to document the good and the bad. There is no point to photo-journalism if we decide to not show any upsetting photo. Would you write a history book, and leave out anything upsetting?
I’m just amazed more people haven’t died. When I first heard about it, I was imagining double digit deaths. I’m happy it wasn’t as bad as I imagined.
If it makes you feel better, I posted it to counter the claims of, “photoshop!” I can’t think of anything MORE disgraceful to a victim than claiming their suffering didn’t exist. And moreover, I do not believe the picture I posted was any more graphic than the original image of that poor young man.
You may not like the photos being posted, but I cannot see the point of avoiding them, myself. Reality isn’t always pretty. And the SDMB board format/rules easily allow you to avoid exposing yourself to such unpleasantries, if that is your preference.
The authorities have executed a search warrant related to a 20-yr-old man from Revere. They are not saying he is a suspect, only that they are executing a search warrant. This is according to Ch.5 news in Boston.
