Explosions at Boston Marathon

The tweets were from the AP and local news channels. They update twitter faster than their sites.

The subject is is a superposed state of being both arrested and free until you open the jailhouse door and look.

By the Saudis.

A *cat *did it?

BBC quotes AP as saying that there has been an arrest.

Press conference at 1700 ET.

In the Marianas Trench.

(sorry, couldn’t resist).

Boston Police Department just tweeted that no arrest has been made…let the news media back pedaling begin.

Boston PD has probably arrested someone today. Shoplifter, drunk driver, jaywalker. Someone.

StG

Must’ve been pretty grumpy.

…but @Boston_Police just tweeted (8 minutes ago)… “Despite reports to the contrary there has not been an arrest in the Marathon attack”.

Confused? You will be.

Could it be the case that the FBI have gone over the local PD’s head? Everything I know about how American policing works I got from Police Squad.

It’s possible that the Feds made the arrest and the BPD doesn’t (officially) know about it. The federal arrest might have been leaked to the press and the BPD won’t comment on that, but can say that they haven’t made an arrest.

Surely you can’t be serious.

Oh course he’s serious. And stop calling him Shirley.

Or the AP jumped too quickly with a bad source.

Here is some video from the actual FBI investigation war room.

We’re still in the fog of war here. Organizations are so quick to tweet something that they are giving us conflicting information based on single conversations. The official responses from BPD and Justice Dept are no arrests have been made. For now, that’s who I’ll listen to. AP and CNN are too quick to report things right now and they’re mainly repeating what others are saying.

Did you see me quoting the Boston Police Dept Tweet as well? I understand how twitter works.

They’re playing word games, They could be questioning somebody and even searching their home. Technically that’s not an arrest. No ones been arrested. (yet)

So far the Boston Globe is only reporting a suspect has been ID. Nothing more. They’ve been pretty responsible reporting this bombing.

I would also think the Boston Globe has the best “sources” within local law enforcement, although federal sources maybe not so much.

Well…now the Boston Globe is reporting the suspect is in custody and the courthouse is being evacuated due to a possible bomb threat.
