Yeah, I’m thinking anything on Facebook is a fake right now.
…I’m sure by the end of the night we will either be dealing with ETA or the IRA. I think the strangest thing is that my mental picture of the grainy. blown up images of the suspects wearing the caps has changed every time the details changed. So for a while I was imagining Indian Marxist’s, now I’m imagining Chechnyan rebels. Bizarre.
Anyway: grain of salt here guys, and its quite likely I’m linking to another innocent person, but the image hosting website I use Photoshelter just announced that one of their photographers has an image of the suspects.

IOW, I don’t think this is his FB page. But I could be wrong, of course.
Interesting “joke” post by Mr Tsarnaev last [del]month[/del] year on that page:
translation: There’s a car with a Dagestani, a Chechen and an Ingush. Q: Who’s driving? A: The police.
It would make sense if you need supplies or traveling money to go on the lam, that makes the carjacking sensible as well if they didn’t have transportation. It’s really weird though, if they’ve really been here for at least a year you’d think if they were interested in escaping they’d already have money stored up and a vehicle somewhere for that purpose.
Since there are reports the dead suspect was wearing a suicide bomb, maybe they were “supposed” to have blown themselves up the day of the bombing with their vests and for whatever reason decided not to (lost their nerve, decided conditions weren’t right etc.) That could explain a haphazard and confused escape plan that requires them to carjack and rob convenience stores, because if they had planned to die they would never have had a planned escape.
Killing the MIT police officer only makes sense if he was somehow in their way for the robbery or carjacking, otherwise it just brings massive attention to the area they are in. It could be they just started a mini-crime spree to bring attention down on themselves so they could go out in a fire fight or something, too.
The VK page looks genuine. Only 3 posts but he updated his profile pic on 19 Mar 2012.

Here’s a Slate “article” that quotes the piece that picture is probably from. Between it and the youtube account it links to, it does add weight to the hypothesis that they were religiously motivated.

Fox News is now showing a “just released” picture that shows the profile pic on the FB page linked to above…
The picture does look legit, but the FB page? Not so much.
Activity in Watertown… FOX news is on the scene, CNN has no video yet… sounds of possible gunfire and/or explosions… bunch of drawn guns…

But nothing indicates to me that the VK page is fake.
I just saw somewhere (CNN, I think) that there may be a fire at the suspect’s residence.

Well, it looks like the guy is creating FB pages left and right, so it’s obvious he doesn’t have time to burn his own house down.
