There’s a very gruesome pic online which purports* to be the body of the older brother, and it does show evidence of blunt trauma such as a car impact.

My WAG is that the younger brother is dead from a self-inflicted injury somewhere in Boston.
I’ve seen confirmation someplace that that pic is legit. The large opening in his chest is from EMTs trying to revive his heart.
Sadly, this was unsuccessful as they were unable to find one.

I hope they drop the terror label on the Marathon bombing. This was two a-holes on a murder spree nothing more. They probably watched some vids on the Internet and bought the pressure cookers.
A real terror organization would have either had an escape plan or just kept setting more bombs.

The recognition software used to shorten the time of picking out the images of these guys from the crowds must be military in origin. If so, that’s pretty damned impressive; there must have been tens of thousands of people in the area, and in particular around the finish line.
A stupid, poorly planned act of terrorism is still an act of terrorism. Are we to give them a pass because they were so bad at it?
Perhaps it was originally, but reports are the work of processing all the video images was performed by the Mass State Police child pornography unit - they have all the needed equipment, experience, and expertise at identifying faces. That work was cross-indexed with the US State Department’s index of visa photos.
I’m not giving them a pass at all. I have more contempt for the Joker guy and these Boston bombers than the IRA or Al Qaeda .
Real terrorists consider themselves soldiers. There’s an organization there, training, and so on. They justify their targets as acts of war. It’s still bloody senseless killing IMHO but there are strategies behind what the IRA did and what Al Qaeda does today.
Have you ever imported someone’s whole picture collection into Google’s Picasa software? I did that yesterday, and it was so through that it creeped me right out. Combine that with the image base of Google Images, Facebook and a few other sources, and you should be able to cobble up something pretty impressive.

I’ve read interviews from former IRA and nearly everyone of them justify what they did as acts of war. Jihad is war. It’s different from a nutcase randomly shooting or blowing up people.

Although really, who cares? Seems to me the only real reason to care one way or another what label is used is to try to make some political point or other… bad men did something bad and people were killed and others were injured. It’s certainly worth trying to figure out what motivated them, as it will hopefully help us find and stop others in the future, but the dead and injured are still just as dead and injured.
I totally agree the senseless death and maiming is whats really important. It’s sickening what’s happened this week.
