Explosions at Boston Marathon

Not seeing your point. My vote is that he leaves the island. The only respect given is that his relatives be allowed to transport him elsewhere.

Who cares? He’s dead. Put him in the ground somewhere. He’s caused enough grief already, no need to add more expense and nonsense on top if it.

Tne New York Times claims no cemetery will take the body, and it’s not the government’s job to bury him.

The family has the body, many of them are on record saying he’s innocent, let them deal with it however they see fit.

They can’t deal with it how they see fit because nobody will accept the body. I’m sort of surprised this is an issue in the first place because I assumed the parents would take the body back to Dagestan. That article says that perhaps they’re circling toward that option.

That’s what I meant, his parents aren’t in this country. They shouldn’t have any trouble finding a place to bury him back home, and I’ve seen reports (no cite right at this minute) that several thousand dollars have been raised to ship the body home.

ETA: There’s also an aunt in Canada, I believe. Probably a lot cheaper to send him there.

How about: a chipper-shredder, large trash bag, strong arm, anonymous landfill?

Being Muslim, isn’t it already past the 24 hours required for burial?

(Everytime I see “burial at sea”, I think they’re going to dump him in the deepest part of the ocean, like the first Transformers movie.)

Great post – thank you. Love the big/little brother analogy.

The requirement is that he be buried as soon as possible. 24 to 48 hours is preferred or ideal, but they couldn’t do that.

There’s always hanging from a gibbet and letting the crows peck out his eyeballs.

Or do we not do that anymore?

I really hope any other ‘domestic terrorist’ who’s considering becoming a martyr by killing a lot of innocent people is aware of the fact that here’s the unenviable fate and despised legacy of someone who did exactly that. Not a lot of mourning and wailing, instead no one or place will accept your rotting carcass. Hopefully in a year they’ll still be trying to find a place to stick him. His eternity sucks.

My office looks down on Copley, and it has been far more busy than normal since it re-opened. Part of that is the makeshift memorial, and maybe also the fact that the news trucks have been sticking around (last week there were 5 or so to start the week; today there’s still one down there). Also, the weather has been great until today.

All that said, the memorial has started to become tattered around the edges, and today’s deluge probably didn’t help. Menino is going to have to start thinking about whether the ywant to put up something more permanent.

The police announced that the body has been buried somewhere outside of Worcester. They haven’t disclosed any other details.

Unfortunately, now the Boston Globe has disclosed the location of the burial and a whole new brouhaha is bubbling up.

Seriously Boston Globe, that was dumb.

It was probably going to come out one way or another. I’m assuming people will keep whining about it, but it was legal and that’s probably the end of it. A bunch of people are demanding a say in this when they’re not entitled to one in any way. And I hate to point this out, but eventually the other brother’s going to be dead, too. And for that matter so will a bunch of other terrorists in federal prison. Are we going to go through this kind of psychodrama every time one of them needs to be buried?

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev Confessed to Boston Bombings in a Note on the Boat

http://www.theatlanticwire.com/national/2013/05/dzhokhar-tsarnaev-confession-note/65283/

In just the latest bizarre twist today, the FBI and police were questioning a friend of Tamerlan Tsarnaev’s about that 2011 triple murder. The FBI says the friend confessed, but attacked an FBI agent and was shot and killed. At first they said he had a knife, but maybe he didn’t. In any event they’re now saying that Tsarnaev and the dead guy (Ibragim Todashev) were trying to steal drugs or money and drugs from Mess, Teken, and Weissman, but decided to kill them after realizing they could identify them to police. Mess was supposed to have been one of Tsarnaev’s closest friends, so you might think that would have been a problem from the beginning.
