Hey the eye can be removed with out too much trouble actually. The tool doctors use to remove eyes for various reasons such as there may be an object behind it that needs removing or they optic nerver may need surgury etc is much like a tea spoon. How do i know this? I had my eye removed when i was 8 (this oneidkat-one eyed kat-as a nick) and replaced with a prosthetic, they walked me through the process and showed me all the instruments… According to my doc its very easy to do and yes it can be popped back in without much drama 
Yep I can attest to that having also had a peke with one eye, lost as a puppy when playfighting.
