F*ck Trump

+2. I kinda like it here.

I’m not so sure about that last bit. Each generation is raised by the one before it. All those Fox-watching, Trump-supporting adults have raised kids in a similar manner. Some of them have learned their way out, but most of them become Fox-watching, Trump-supporting adults.

But then, my take is biased by the fact I taught thousands of teens in a deeply red state for a very long time. I’d love to be wrong about this.

Depends on which alternative. Compared to Nigeria or North Korea, yeah it great here. Compared to Finland or Canada, not as great.

This 2016 election really made a lot of Americans realize how deranged this country is. It’ll take time to adapt to this fact. Years.

Follow me.

I know the way.

It’s like rolling dice. The missus and me are deeply blue in word and deed, and we live in a mostly blue state (Colorado…more of a red state with some small, but persistent and intense blue stains). Of the five chilluns we’ve escorted to adulthood, 3 are bluer than we are and 2 are complete Trump-loving redneck trolls who think everyone should have to pay their own way and suffer the losses & enjoy the benefits arising from their particular choices and lifestyles. Taxes and social nets are straight up thievery and wealth redistribution. But do they ever squeal when I won’t give them gas money!

I would drown the two strange ones…I’ve tried, actually, but the missus does scowl at me so. Clearly, we disagree over the definition of “sacrifice.”

Canada can eat the Dick Cheese from Uncircumcised Winos.

That’s a very odd statement. Are you jealous of Canada or something? I do hear it has a very nice latitude.

Do you get lost in your own museum?

I have a strong feeling that Kavanaugh won’t last very long, for whatever reason, due to his alcoholism. Even if he isn’t actively drinking, he’s definitely at the very least a “dry drunk.” By “won’t last very long”, I mean 10 years or less.

No, have Gore win in 2000, 9/11 doesn’t happen because he actually pays attention to the presidential daily briefings. He gets no credit for preventing it (another plot foiled, yawn) and loses in 04 to Mitt Romney.

Hah! Thanks for the chuckle!.

This is true. My daughter married a guy raised in a family of ultra conservatives. Three kids are deep blue, and the fourth is pretty purple. The mom jumped ship and is also blue. Dad is left alone to mutter dark thoughts.

If you live overseas, and you aren’t coming back, why are you so concerned?

No.

Seriously? Because I still pay US taxes and want my money to be used in ways that make the country and the world a better place. Because I have friends and family that live in the US and they are being impacted in very real ways. Because the US is a (the?) major superpower in the world right now, and how it behaves impacts the rest of the world.

Would have thought that would be obvious, but I guess not.

I’m in the same situation as DragonAsh and also find D’Anconia’s comment peculiarly ignorant. Even people who’ve never set foot in the States should be concerned. The U.S. is the superpower with economic prosperity key to world prosperity, geopolitical strength essential to world stability, and, in the past, inspirational moral leadership.

Yes, the world is laughing at Donald Trump — that’s because it hurts too much to cry.

Why are you so concerned that he is concerned?

Apparently Trevor Noah addresses serious matters with the audience during commercial breaks. He makes an intelligent comment on Trump’s technique for creating false messages of victimhood.

Well, for one thing, Trump’s ambassador is actively encouraging the same kind of right-wing know-nothing anti-immigrant shitbags in my country.

For another, the USA is the world’s largest superpower, and when things go to shit there, it tends to have an impact on everywhere else. The last financial crisis did not ignore Germany.

For another, because I have friends and family who live in that shithole country.

For another, because the rise of far-right authoritarian nationalism in history has led to some very dark places for humanity, and because I care about people, not just my country of choosing.

So basically, because I’m not a goddamn short-sighted sociopathic piece of shit. Y’know, all you need to not vote republican these days.

Holy fuck I like him more and more.

Why is it that lately the most perceptive and intelligent analysis of American politics and society is being done by foreigners (John Oliver, Trevor Noah, JimJeffries…)?

This seems to be the best thread to put my complaint about this article from CNN.
tRump is winning!

Yay! tRump is securing a GOP dominated Supreme Court! /sarcasm

Never mind that it’s not an accomplishment per se. Turtle Man kept Obama from making a nomination and then Kennedy retired.

Yay! Best unemployment rate ever! /sarcasm

Never mind WHAT those jobs actually ARE and the growing wealth inequality.
Never mind that the lowered taxes on businesses have been going more to shareholders and not as much to employees as tRump touted so people would vote for him.
NEVER MIND that health care costs are still going up and tRump is doing everything he can to make sure people with preexisting conditions or little money can’t get coverage.

Yay! Rolling back regulations means more jobs! /sarcasm

See above plus NEVER MIND that there will be more pollution and looser regs on FUCKING ASBESTOS and FUCKING RADIATION!

JUST UGH!

This is the Pit and this is a rant. Very bad week for me and NO ONE (especially low info voters) IS PAYING ANY ATTENTION TO HEALTH CARE. tRump is NOT HELPING YOU if you are a low wage worker or a poor person living out in the country.
