Well, somebody has to start this thread!
After a false start (the oil annunciator lit on the bike), I headed up National to Robertson. Up to Wilshire to the La Brea Tar Pits. As I turned the corner, Arnold was just walking from the parking structure. I coughed up five bucks to park ( a lot of places let motorcycles park free. Not here!) and met him on the sidewalk. We went to the entry area and met Catrandom, Chef, Phouka (pronounced “pooka”), Ursa Major, zyada, pricciar, Rick and dogsbody. We waited around for Melin and Highlander and family, but they didn’t show; so we got our entry-stickers and went inside.
You’d think that LACMA, being the fin institution it purports to be, would have a better collection; but everything in there was old! Seriously. There were things in there from way back. You think they’d be able to afford some new stuff!
Actually, the collection was fine. However, I was asked to leave at one point. They don’t allow motorcycle helmets in the building. After checking my brain bucket at the ticket office, I was allowed to return. Ursa Major was pointed out by the docents as The Loud Pointy Guy, and Catrandom set off an alarm by getting too close to a big box. Catrandom served as a guide for all of the religious paintings and sculptures. I guess it’s useful having a sister who’s a sister! Somewhere along the line, Dogsbody and zyada disappeared.
Eventually it was time to see the modern furniture exhibit. I just made a quick run-through, as I noticed there was a coffee cart outside and I wanted some caffeine. I had a cookie too.
Everyone joined me after a bit at a table outside. The missing women arrived and we chatted for a while. Around 17:15 we decided to head over to Marie Callender’s.
When we got there, Melin, Rick, Ruffian and Brian were at the bar. We were quickly shown to a table and everyone took his seat. From there on it was a typical Dopefest (or Fathomfest). Shayna showed up just before the waitress came to take our order. She had to think fast to decide what to eat!
As for the rest of the details, I’ll leave those to the other attendees to fill in!
