Fall '09 TV schedule

I find contrived drama tedious at best.

Hooray. I’m official moving Fringe from my “show I’ll watch if I can” catagory to “show that takes precedence on my TV schedule.” All that’s left is the exclusive “show that I’ll rearrange my schedule for category.” Fringe just might make it on after Lost is over.

Ah, okay, thanks for the reminder.

The site has updated to show Chuck as a sure thing!

I think the NBC Upfront is tomorrow (if I recall) so I guess we’ll find out.

It was today and nothing was decided on Chuck’s future.

Southland is coming back though and Life was canceled.

The latest update now lists Chuck as a sure thing

Seeing as I really like Castle and **The Unusuals **now…they will surely be canceled.

And the piece of crap they call **The Mentalist **will be on forever!

Of the shows I watch:

Coming back: Lost, The Simpsons, 30 Rock, The Office, 24, House and (apparently) Chuck.

On the cusp: Better Off Ted, Castle, My Name is Earl

Cancelled: Pushing Daisies, Prison Break (old news) and King of the Hill (which has had a good run, so no tears).

I certainly hope all my cusp shows come back, especially since the landscape is otherwise pretty barren for comedies I enjoy.

Here’s a preview of NBC’s proposed fall line-up (includes video featurettes).

Yay, they’ve renewed Cold Case. I’ll admit I don’t watch it completely faithfully – the stories are usually so heartbreaking, and sometimes I’m just not in the mood to have my heart broken – but I think it’s one of the best shows on network TV.

My two shows that I cared about, Chuck and Dollhouse, both seem to have been renewed. Chuck looked likely early, but Dollhouse was a pleasant shock.

I like this one too, but every time I try to watch it, the Amazing Race is on. I don’t think I’ve seen four episodes this season.

I attended the Fox upfront presentation here in Chicago yesterday (live feed from the NYC event) and we saw clips of some of the news shows. Quick recap of what I can remember:

"Glee" - This looks great. I think they’re premiering it after Idol tonight or tomorrow night and then it’ll be on this Fall.

**“Brothers” **- Sitcom starring Michael Strahan (yes, the football player) and Daryl “Chill” Mitchell (Galaxy Quest, 10 Things I Hate About You) as brothers trying to run a restaurant together or something. I didn’t think it looked that good. CCH Pounder is in it though, as well as Carl Weathers, so maybe it’s worth checking out.

**“Past Life” - Slated for midseason. Show about solving past crimes by regressing people w/ past lives. I thought it looked dumb and like Fox is trying to get in on the Medium/Ghost Whisperer action a few years too late.
**
“Human Target”
- Another mid-season show. It’s an action-type show they’re billing as a throwback to shows like “The A-Team” and “Remington Steele.” I thought it looked like a lot of fun and I’ll definitely check it out. I forget the lead guy’s name but he had a story-arc on Fringe. It also stars Chi McBride and Jackie Earl Haley.

"The Cleveland Show" - Spinoff of Family Guy. This was supposed to be on this past fall but w/ the writer’s strike and the long production cycle for an animated show, they moved it to Fall’09 and ordered a full season. It looks pretty funny and just as irreverent as Family Guy.

As far as other shows… They’re bringing back Till Death (blah), Dollhouse, Fringe, and Lie to Me. All of which will be on the fall schedule. 24 will be back midseason again also. One other interesting move, they’re going to run a cycle of Do You Think You can Dance? in the Fall with a two-hour block on Tuesday night and then the elimination show on Weds. Looks like they want a chunk of ABC’s Dancing w/ the Stars audience.

ABC’s upfront presentation is this afternoon and I’ll report back on what they have to offer.

That’s basically the concept behind the Assassin’s Creed video game. I wonder if Ubisoft will sue…

As I posted in the Earl thread, Earl is dead but may be picked up by Fox or ABC.

I will watch *Human Target *because it stars Mark “Keen Eddie” Valley, but I haven’t liked the other characters he’s played anywhere near as much (Boston Legal, etc.)

ABC has announced its scheduleUgly Betty is renewed (but moving to Fridays), and they seem to have ditched the guiltiest of my guilty pleasures, Wife Swap.

Castle has been renewed.

A show I like was renewed.

Wierd!

Update:

The Unusuals is toast.

The one show you forgot, according to this is Sons of Tuscan:

Mark Valley is the lead of Human Target (he was also on Boston Legal and the title role of Keen Eddie):

Dang…I suspected as much though.

I was really digging Adam Goldberg, I’m really hoping he shows up on the big or small screen sometime soon.

Does anyone know whether Saving Grace is renewed? It’s one of my favorite shows.
