Not digital, but the boxed PC version of Shadow of Mordor is $20 on Amazon right now. Better price than the 33% off on Steam.
I’ve never used it, but this reddit post links to all the current deals in the Nuuvem sale. It’s apparently a Brazillian key seller sort of like greenmangaming, and as far as I can tell, not the grey market skeevy eastern european sort of site. It’s written in Portuguese (Chrome will try to translate), but there are links to the games directly and apparently you can use paypal to pay. You can use hola unblocker for regional limitations if there are any.
Anyway, there are some really good prices on there.
Wolfenstein and Rome II look like the current picks on Steam to me. I also like the look of the roguelike Dungeonmans, despite being early access and only -20%.
Nuuvem is a good seller. They’re an authorized seller (as opposed to some CD scan ‘key’ merchants) where you’re taking advantage of differences in regional pricing.
You DO have to watch out for region locks. They’re good for warning you (See description of Metro: Last Light for example) if a game is Brazil only or South/Central America only but you still need to look for it. You don’t want to buy a game you can’t use, after all. I won’t get into activating region-locked games via VPN since that’s technically a bannable offense on Steam regardless of the actual chance of being banned.
…aaand of course two days after I post this, they changed from Metacritic ratings to Steam user ratings, but at least now there’s a score for nearly every game, including the number of thumbs up/down so you have an idea of the sample size.
Not really, but offline modes and the Cities of Tomorrow xpac both improved it substantially.
I massively recommend everyone gets Battleblock Theater for $1.49. That is easily a $30 game and besides a great and hilarious story, it has developer supported user-addons that make the game last forever.
Get it.
Here is the opening, which made me giggle. No, the dude isn’t annoying throughout.
The new deals today include Wreckfest which I’ve been recruiting people for. It’s by the people who did the flatout series. It’s a demolition-oriented racer/derby game with 24 player multiplayer and a fun damage model. It’s $15.
It’s still in early access, but they’ve got way more than the funding they’d anticipated by going early access (they did so to avoid having to work under a publisher), it has a fun playable product now, and there’s pretty much no chance it’s going to fizzle out or anything. In any case, the game is going to probably be $40 at release, so if you ever think you might grab it, $15 is a fantastic price. Even if you have an aversion to early access games, just pretend it’s a discounted preorder and wait for release if that’s what you want - it won’t be this price again until longer after that.
Here’s an example video I took playing around with some people. 24 players online on a figure 8 track.
Anyway, we’re going to be playing it regular with people from the SDMB group, so if you grab it, make sure to add me on your friends list.
I paid $7.50 for Arkham Origins some time ago and that was a steal. It’s now $5 and is a must buy for everyone in my opinion. Best Arkham game of the three that have been released.
Get it!
Thanks for posting this—I just realized the Steam sale might be on, logged in, and saw this on sale. I came to the Dope Games forum specifically to see what people thoguht of Origins. I ended up liking Asylum and City a lot. Most of my limited gaming time is in FPSs, so it took a bit at first to get into the third-person aspect of things, but the effort was worth it in the long run.
Was a bit taken aback at the $5–was it the full game? A mini-adventure? But it sounds like you’re saying this is more than worth it!
Somewhere out there is an XKCD that explains a lot of my gaming. I so rarely get a chance to play that I can wait for a game to have been out forever before buying cheaply (and running very well on my hardware).
Full game, but not the DLC. However, I do own Cold, Cold Heart and don’t recommend it all that much. The main game(which you are getting) is 100% awesome.
Bought Endless Legend, Democracy 3, and Assassin’s Creed 2, all from Steam.
Don’t know how many on this board this will appeal to, but Euro Truck Simulator 2 is currently 85% off on Steam.
Alien: Isolation is $20 on Green Man Gaming via the “VIP” section. You just need to have an account to access it.
Wow, I’m not going to be buying it anytime soon, but $20 looks like a damned good price so soon after release.
I got Arkham Assylum and Arkham City for something like $5-10 bucks each with all DLC included, and had a blast blowing through them on Easy mode. I think I’ll wait until I can get the whole shebang for $5-10 on Origins as well.
Steam has South Park: The Stick of Truth for $13.59. I bought it fresh out of the hopper for $60 and was well satisfied despite the small playtime for even a slow player like myself. But at the time I recommended that other people may find it worth about $20. Well, $13.59 is a damned good deal for the game. I mean, eventually it’ll be a $5 everyday value, but it’s still worth it at thrice the price. Caveat emptor: It’s South Park. It will offend you at some point. I don’t even want to meet the deranged person South Park can’t offend.
Two amazing RPGs as the daily sales today - I can recommend both Divinity: Original Sin and Legend of Grimrock 2 a lot. I guess both are somewhat niche games but they are both great at what they do.
Just spotted the Divinity Original Sin myself, and got the collector’s edition 2-pack for $46. Glad I saw it now, since my deal alerts were set for $25 for a single copy and wouldn’t have caught this.
I bought Fallout Vegas Ultimate Edition today for $5. I already had Fallout 3(with all DLC), but I bootlegged* Vegas and never even played any DLC on it. Next summer, I will likely do a replay of Vegas with all the add-ons.
*hangs head in shame
Still without 90% of the DLC however.
