Yeah I plan on seeing it this weekend too - hopefully Friday. I’m a big fan of horror films based on a true story - makes it much scarier IMO. Have you read about the backstory for it?
I have put these titles on my calendar. Whether I will actually go to see some of them (Flightplan, Elizabethtown) will depend on the Tomatometer:
Everything Is Illuminated (Elijah Wood) The Libertine (Johnny Depp, Samantha Morton Corpse Bride (Johnny Depp, Joanna Lumley) Flightplan (Sean Bean) Pride and Prejudice A History of Violence (Viggo Mortensen) Oliver Twist Serenity (never saw the show, wanna see what all the fuss was about) Wallace and Gromit: Curse of the Wererabbit (no brainer, but also Ralph Fiennes) Elizabethtown (Orlando Bloom) (shut up – I’m trying to decide if he can really act) Stay (Ewan McGregor) Derailed (Clive Owen) (mmm, Clive Owen) The Legend of Zorro (Rufus Sewell) Chicken Little Jarhead (Jake Gyllenhaal) The New World (Christian Bale, David Thewlis – yes, David Thewlis) Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (another obvious one, but also for Ralph Fiennes, Alan Rickman, and Emma Watson) Ice Harvest (John Cusack, Oliver Platt, and Billy Bob Thornton) River Queen (Samantha Morton) Brokeback Mountain (Heath Ledger) The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe (Rupert Everett) All the King’s Men (Jude Law) King Kong (Adrien Brody, hommina hommina) Lucky You (Eric Bana) Fun with Dick and Jane (this one is unlikely, really, but I like Tea Leoni)
and last but not least The Producers
This takes me through the end of the year (Oscar season).
Transporter 2 (seriously, the first one was kick-ass awesome!)
V For Vendetta (hopefully it’ll be great)
Serenity
Wallace and Gromit
Harry Potter 4
Corpse Bride
I Walk the Line (the Johnny Cash biopic with Joaquin Phoenix)
King Kong
The Producers (I had no idea this was coming out so soon)
The Transporter 2
Aeon Flux
Domino
The Legend of Zorro (although I expect to be disappointed)
Maybe:
Just like Heaven
Mirror Mask
The Family Stone (I’m a sucker for Christmas Romance movies)
Ice Harvest
Hoodwinked! The True Story of Red Riding Hood
No I haven’t read the backstory, if you have a suggestion, I’d love to read up on it.
I found someone to go the the movie with me. It was hard because none of my friends wanted to go with me. “Zombies, vampires, serial killers, I can handle, but not exorcism/demon stuff.”
Which sucks for me because those are the only type of scary movies I like, because they are the only kind that can scare me.
Zombies: Not possible.
Vampires: Not possible.
Serial Killers: I live on a military base, probaly one of the safest places when not getting shot at.
Demon/Satanic stuff: Raised to believe all that stuff is real, and I won’t mess with it. It scares the hell (get it?) out of me.
Everything is Illuminated- must remember to bring kleenex and a large hat, 'cause unless Liev Schreiber reallys crewed up the book, I’ll be bawling mye yes out (christ, I get halfway there during the trailer)
Thumbsucker- I’m hoping it’ll be something similar to Election, and that Vince Vaughn might get through a movie without a single “Baby!”
Flightplan- the story looks really thrilling and it’ll be interesting to see Jodie F… ah, screw it. I have the hots for Peter Sarsgaard.
Jarhead- Sarsgaard may be in it, I’d probably see it anyway. The trailer looks great, and I’ll be happy if it’s even half as good as the excellent Three Kings.
Elizabethtown (because I’m genuinely interested in the film, NOT because Orlando Bloom is in it…my best friend’s the one who’s obsessed over him)
Flightplan (I like Jodie Foster and this thriller looks great)
Everything is Illuminated (see #2, but replace Orlando Bloom with Elijah Wood. Same best friend, too.)
The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (I like the book. Aforementioned best friend wants to see it because they hired the same design people from LotR. Can you see a theme here?)
Stay (I like Ewan McGregor)
Possibilities:
Rent
Thumbsucker (I think it’s limited release, though)
Exorcism of Emily Rose (if it’s rated 14A at certain theatres)
