The show is sitting on my DVR waiting for me to watch it. However, I watched the season opener of Defiance and immediately deleted the scheduled recordings; it really stunk.
I’ll watch Falling Skies, I guess, but from what I read it might be just as bad as the beginning of Season 2.
They are both certainly contrived.
I have never copied Defiance to DVD, to keep forever and ever and never watch.
Not sure about Falling Skies, certainly Brown Shirts are National Socialist Workers Party, but I believe re-education camps are Communist.
Whatever.
This show just keeps getting worse and worse. I guess I’ll watch for a few more episodes, I don’t have a lot of other shows on my schedule now, but I’m sure not expecting much.
Finally watched it. The writers have a 4 month thing going. Last season’s opener was 4 months after season 1 ended and this season’s opener is apparently 4 months after season 2 ended. I guess I didn’t pay that much attention because I don’t remember that the entire (mostly) race of aliens helping to defend Earth, left suddenly.
I expected that the hybrid girl would have a sudden growth spurt (they always do that) so that didn’t surprise me.
However, the stories about the three groups (how/when did they get separated?) is just really confusing.
I guess I’ll be deleting a bunch more scheduled recordings from my DVR because I dont’ think this can be made any better.
Finally got around to watching this. And yeah… okay, glad I’m not the only one who thought it was terrible. I mean, not that the show has ever been amazing even at it’s best points, but yeesh. Really bad idea to just suddenly zoom ahead in media res, the writers aren’t good enough to do so. Not a fan of what they’ve done with Anne and Dan’s characters. And separating them into three groups between the ghetto, the not-even-trying-to-pretend-we’re-not-copying-the-nazis re-education camp, and Lexi’s weird peace bubble… ugh.
Heck, I thought Lordis was dead, and was really confused as to why no one else commented on it. Apparently Lexi fixed her at the end of last season? And no one cared, we just jumped ahead to a green field in the middle of nowhere… really smacks of “well we only keep thinking of ideas for one season at a time until we get cancelled.”
Well, at least the second episode explained why the adult humans are still alive (the Espheni want to use them for warriors as well to fight some new, unnamed “threat” that isn’t the Volm) but dear lord, are the Espheni stupid. Let’s just let the most dangerous rebel leader sit in “solitary confinement” in a crumbling building with one guard who only walks by every so often, and have that cell in a ghetto filled with his other associates. Then let’s bring him up to our ship to walk around and look at all our helpfully-designed screens showing exactly where the fence’s power source is! Ugh. It’s really hard to take the Espheni seriously as villains when they’re so goddamned stupid. The only way they could explain that for me is if Earth is basically some backwater to the overall war, and the guy put in charge is some high general’s idiot kid that just needed legacy posting somewhere he could screw up the least.
The other two plotlines (Anne becoming bloodthirsty to try and get her daughter back, Lexi being a religious figure but secretly working with the Espheni) aren’t grabbing me either. Not liking where the Ben/Maggie thing is going either. I’m gonna be honest, this show is pretty crap and I’m only watching it because it’s summer and there’s nothing else to watch.
