Update- Eureeka!
As I was lying in bed last night trying to get to sleep, the answer came to me. My sister and i often fight over certain issues. These fights, while never physical, are very loud and unpleasant. If I say that I do not want to go over my finances with her because I am worried it will start a big fight, she will very likely accept that explanation without further quesions. If I promise to make an appointment with somebody from my bank to discuss my finances, how much to invest and exactly how to invest it- she should be satisfied.
See about booking that appointment now, for a date after your trip
Update- Long Story That Becomes Relevant In The End- I am in Florida, staying with my sister and sister in law. I had intended to conceal my back problems. However, due to unrelated issues, I fell at the airport. I hadn’t intended to mention that either. But, while I was on the plane, I developed a sizable lump where my chin had apparently hit the floor. My SIL noticed and I explained how I fell. The fall and the hard chairs in this house aggravated my back problems. They noticed I was standing in an odd posture and walking slowly. They asked questions, and the truth about my back troubles (as detailed in the thread Ow! My Spine!) came out.
I mentioned that before I left for Florida, my physical therapist had given me an exercise to do. She refused to believe me when I said it could be done while sitting down. I repeated that I had asked the therapist for an exercise I could do while sitting down. She kept insisting I was wrong. It went on like this for a while. I repeated that I had asked the therapist for an exercise I could do while seated. She said that I had just not asked the right questions.
I could take no more. I shouted at her. My computer was set up on the dining room table. I slammed my mouse on the table.
Things eventually returned to normal.
The upshot is- the left button on that mouse no longer works. Fortunately, I have a spare.
And
I now have excellent cover for avoiding talking to my sister about investing.
I’m guessing kissing is out?
