Definitely play Shockey. With Colston out for a while, Shockey is gonna get the ball.
I also have Addai, and almost want to sit him out. He’s left two games now–counting preseason–with a “head injury”. Sounds to me like there may be concussion issues there, but I haven’t seen it mentioned anywhere. My problem with sitting him is I don’t really have anybody to replace him. I have Deuce, but he isn’t the guy in New Orleans anymore…at least not yet.
I would say Graham’s a good choice. He has a good matchup, and did pretty well last week.
This is probably irrelevent, but I’m going with Royal over Driver in another league, but I’m not 100% sure. On one hand, Royal scored 20 points to Driver’s 3 last week, and San Diego’s secondary didn’t look too formidable last week. On the other hand, Royal’s 20 points were against Oakland, Marshall’s back this week, Rodger’s looked good, and Driver did catch a TD pass that would have bumped him to about 12 points, were it not called back due to a penalty. Also the Packers are playing Detroit, and Grant is hurt, so they might run less. Ok, now I’m going with Driver over Royal after typing all that out. I don’t really know enough about the other guys to say much.
For my question is it worth benching Grant for either LenDale White or Kevin Smith?
Grant - best back, best matchup, but hurt. Might not get too many carries.
White - good matchup, QB situation is questionable - don’t know if that means they’ll run a lot, or if their running will be ineffectual because defense doesn’t need to worry about the pass
Smith - worst matchup, Detriot might get behind early and abandon the run, but he did earn the most points last week.
Heh, realized I had another wide receiver spot. So now the question is Eddie Royal or Devery Henderson. Eddie has all the pros and cons above, while Devery benefits from Colston going out, had a 14 point week last week, and I’m not sure if Washington is a good or a bad matchup.
I’m probably being too much of a homer (Cards fan), but I"m sitting Ricky Williams against the Cardinals this week. I wasn’t impressed last week and the Dolphins on the road out west doesn’t seem to be a good combination. Instead, I’ll start Darren McFadden against the pathetic Kansas City Chiefs.
I wouldn’t (not that I’m any kind of expert…) Ricky is the starter, McFadden is still a backup. Fargas got the bulk of the carries and McFadden got a shoulder stinger.
Put me down as you are crazy. Addai is too good, or moreover has too good an offense around him, to ever bench. If you want to play Graham I’d bench Driver.
Graham and Addai- never replace a back with a wideout unless the back isn’t an unquestioned starter, or the wideout is Randy Moss, Reggie Wayne, or T.O.
Out of your receivers, Andre Johnson is pretty much a must-start, as is Boldin. I’m not particularly high on any of the other guys besides Royal, but he’s a rookie, and I’d want to wait and see what the Denver passing landscape looks like with Brandon Marshall back.
Given the extra looks that Shockey is bound to get, you’ll want him in there too.
No. In fact, you might want to think about trading for the tailback who plays Detroit every week. Atlanta’s offensive line did a good job blocking for Michael Turner, but he was able to break the first tackle on almost every run last week.
Grant is a lock for 100 yards this week.
Kevin Smith’s matchup is better than it appears; the Vikings were able to run for 140 yards last week without LT Bryant McKinnie, and the Green Bay defense is definitely not as good upfront as last year.
White is now officially in a timeshare and Cincy did play the run relatively well against Baltimore.
Feh. Not particularly high on either guy, but I have a feeling Miami may have to abandon the run early against the Cards. Kansas City, of course, won’t be running up the score on anyone, although getting Damon Huard back under center will definitely improve their offense.
ETA: Ronnie Brown is also getting the starter’s reps in practice this week (over Williams.)
It will be next to impossible to fit the game in elsewhere on the schedule because they have different bye weeks. They’d probably have to reschedule the Cincinnatti-Baltimore game (and Cincy’s bye). I suspect the game will end up getting played in the Astrodome, which appears to be undamaged.
If the game is re-rescheduled, then this week will almost certainly count as a bye for both teams, so you’ll have to get someone else into your lineup pronto.
Terrible Reasons to Pick a Player, Part 302: I’m probably going to start Holt because the Giants/Rams game is televised locally, so I can actually watch the carnage, but San Diego/Denver is not.
Now I have a frantic owner carrying the Ravens’ defense trying to get me to trade him one of my alternate defenses (I’m carrying three, for just such an occasion). To squeeze him, or to make a fair deal and hope the goodwill will help down the line?
Do you even have time for the trade to go through?
Most leagues require at least 24 hours for the other owners to vote or for the commissioner to review the trade.
I’d squeeze him, although I doubt you’ll get much for a defense that he probably won’t expect to start more than 2-3 times. Why on earth are you carrying three defenses anyway? Pick up running backs. You always need more of them.
I think you gotta go with Holt. Cutler has, from what I’ve seen, a penchant for focusing on just one option. And with the return of Marshall, going up against Quentin Jammer, and still being only a rookie, I can’t imagine Royal will have the same kind of scoring this week.
Our league is… let’s call it unusual. I’m carrying three defenses because I always draft two, and I hated the matchups this week so I picked up the Packers D to matchup against Detroit.
Oh, and our league has no owner voting on trades and the Commissioner will approve them up to 12:55PM on Sunday afternoon.
I’m countering with a round 7 for next year (he offered a round 9). We’ll see what he says. This particular owner is unlikely to compete and has Tony Romo; I’d like to try to get Romo out of him later in the year, so I’m better off not shooting the moon completely.
I highly doubt he’ll cut you a break on Romo just because you let him have a defense cheap. I know I don’t pay attention to who let me have someone cheap before when I trade.
If anything, he’s probably more likely to be grateful that you traded with him at all.
