I’ve been getting hammered this year, so thought I would finally bite the bullet and ask for advice.
I can start two runningbacks out of LaDanian Tominson, Marshall Faulk and Edgerrin James. Standard scoring: 6 points for a TD, 10 pts per yard.
Edge hasn’t been up to much this year, but he faces a great matchup against a shaky Jets run defence. Faulk returned last week, got a couple of scores early on but not too many yards. He also has a good matchup v Chicago. Tomlinson has been inconsistent at times, but he was great vs Minnesota on Sunday; Doug Flutie’s return may be helping him. SD however face a slightly tougher Denver run defence.
Go with the best guy to date and when it comes to premier players, don’t worry about matchups:
Faulk is a must. St Louis scores even when they play against smothering defenses. Faulk has proven himself. You want more proof, then you need help (which brings you here!)
Tomlinson isn’t inconsistent - his team is always behind so they throw to catch up. If Flutie lenss balance to the team, then Tomlinson is the man. James health is still questionable.
Flutie will keep his team competitive, and that bodes well for their running game. Tomlinson, even on a shakey team has proven explosive, and he gets better with Flutie.
I don’t know that I’d go with Edge. While the Jets run defense is indeed one of the worst in the league (as witnessed last Sunday) they also face a loss in Mickens (CB) who is a possible for this week. Seeing as he is himself a backup I would think this team would be all about passing.
