Fantasy football general discussion

I like it against sufficiently porous run defenses or sufficiently crappy opposing offenses. If you have, say, DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart, and they’re going against Oakland, I’d rather start Stewart than somebody facing Baltimore, for example.

Tampa is going up against Dallas. I’d rather go with Cadillac. There are a couple situations where I’d go both (Jets, maybe Steelers), but the Chargers isn’t one of them at the moment. (Sproles could get more carries, but I don’t see it right now.)

Ok, another question, related to above. These are my options at RB2 this week, who would you start (alongside LT)?

Sproles (. Oakland)
K. Moreno (v. Cincy)
Caddy Williams (v. Dallas)
Mike Bell (v. Detroit)

Assuming Pierre Thomas is still looking bad by Sunday, Mike Bell easily.

Mike Bell is a no-brainer if Thomas is out. Otherwise, wait and see if Moreno gets the starting nod. If you don’t want to do the Sunday-morning channel dance to find out if your guys are playing or not, Cadillac is a good start, at least for this week.

Don’t bother with Sproles. He doesn’t get anything more than emergency-start touches unless LT is nicked up.

I actually just picked Bell up as a FA between posts #260 and #263 because I read Thomas is doubtful.

That’s my boy.

Cool. This year yahoo’s stat tracker (live scoring) app includes a little chat box for every league you’re in, so other people who are logged in watching stat tracker can talk. Cool feature. I’m showing up as “guest” for some reason.

Someone who’s around log in and chat with me and see if it works.

Is it crazy to consider starting Flacco v. KC instead of Warner v. 49ers? Warner has much better WRs, and Baltimore is still a rush-first team, but KC looks pretty weak on D, and it’s questionable if Boldin is healthy.

Yes. Start your studs.

In the early portion of the season, you dance with the ones who brought you. If you’re going to bench Warner unless he has an ideal matchup you shouldn’t have drafted him.

Plus, let’s be reasonable: Flacco may have produced consistently down the stretch last season, but he didn’t produce a lot- and the risk of a sophomore slump is always there.

Last, but not least, Baltimore may be up by 30 at halftime, so no passing. Arizona won’t.

Thanks. Every year I over-analyze myself to mediocrity…

Not sure if any of you use iphones/ipod touches, but yahoo just came out with an app for their fantasy football site, which is what I’ve been hoping for. I thought they’d try to make up some money this way since stat tracker is now free (and I would’ve gladly paid for it) but it’s also free. It allows you to watch live scoring of the matchups you’re playing every week in all your leagues… it doesn’t allow you to see other matchups, but oh well, you can still go to the webpage for that. You can also do roster editing and player pickups from it.

Sweet. They have it for Blackberries too.

It’s pretty good. For those with just one team, My Fantasy Teams is even better. For a few extra bucks, it’ll load all of your Yahoo teams onto it (I got a free promo upgrade, so that’s what I use). It has about everything you need - trades, roster moves, FA pickups, message board, matchups, etc. It even has a link to the actual website if you need to see what you’re doing better. Yahoo has a nice look, but it does lack quite a few features (and isn’t all that inuitive).

It also does baseball, hockey and basketball, all in the same app.

Does it do live scoring? The thing I’ll be using it most for is to check my fantasy scores during commercials.

I’m not sure. It pulls the data straight from your league page, so I’d think so.

Congratulations! I sat him :frowning:

Yeah it worked out pretty well, particularly since it is a PPR league.

For all the people who passed on Antonio Bryant in drafts this season (and ignored my urging to add him early last season), here’s food for thought: only two wideouts ranked in the top 10 in the league last season in receiving yards, receiving touchdowns and catches. Larry Fitzgerald is one - can you guess who the other is?
