Fantasy football general discussion

While this advice is probably sound, Flacco threw 3 TDs for 307 …on the bench. Warner’s still playing but has 85 yds and an int in the 1st half.

Damn, who would have though that the Jets against Houston was a far better matchup than the Ravens against Kansas City? What the hell happened to Baltimore? Did Rex Ryan take all the magic with him to New York?

In the All-Pro league I figured the Jets against Houston was a better matchup than the Eagles against Carolina. Boy was I wrong. The Jets pitched a shutout, sure, but the Eagles racked up 38 points, rivaling Drew Brees’ day. In the keeper league Weirddave scored 44 points with the Eagles. Nice!

Hey, Yahoo didn’t give the Jets credit for the shutout. WTF? Houston’s only points came from a pick six; the Jets defense wasn’t on the field. I trust they’ll get that corrected before the scores are finalized.

So in the game of defensive matchups so far I’m 0-2. I started the Ravens over Jets and Jets over Eagles. Doh!

Nope, you’re fucked. The 6 points from the defensive score doesn’t count against you, because the defense didn’t give up the points. But the extra point was against your D/ST. So your defense/special temas allowed 1 point. Which takes them from scoring allowed 0 to scoring allowed 1-7.

I lost a game over this a few years ago IIRC. It’s stupid :frowning:

The Jets show 7 points allowed.

Ah, you should get bumped into the 1-6 bracket then.
I’m already facing the dilemmas of playing in multiple leagues. In one league Chicago’s defense is important for me, but in two others I have Aaron Rodgers. In the league with Chicago, my opponent also has Rodgers - so I clearly want the Bears to make picks like crazy in that league, and yet it hurts me in 2 other leagues. This is what I hate about playing multiple FF leagues.

My Fantasy Teams is a clearly superior product. Not just live scoring, but live scoring that actually shows you the players’ stats. It also has a link to Yahoo’s NFL live scores, and is just…better. I highly recommend it.

Had to go against Adrian Peterson is my two most important leagues this week and had Forte going for me in both. Needless to say I’m off to an unpleasant start.

Thanks. I’m a little leery of giving out my yahoo login/pass to some random company, but I doubt this is a grant scheme to steal people’s yahoo accounts, so I’ll give it a try.

So I was scheduled to have a bye this week so I looked ahead and arraigned my team for Week 2. Then I come home to find out that THIS MORNING (yes, after the season already started on Thursday), our league manager changed the scheduling and I had a game today.

I had Crayton benched!

Then I would have him set your roster back to what it was. That’s total bullshit. You just don’t screw with the schedule on a whim.

Well, I’m gonna win in the dynasty league, assuming Vincent Jackson and Fred Taylor don’t combine for negative points… but it’s looking bleak in the other two. In the HHM league I started Lance Moore, who is apparently the only Saints wideout who didn’t get a touchdown yesterday.

In the auction league I’m gonna need a banner day from T.O. and a silent day from Vincent Jackson.

In my PPR league, I’m up 2 points. My opponent has TO tonight and I have LT in the late game. Should be interesting.

I had the fortune of playing a guy with Brees, Thomas Jones, Wayne, Carlson, and the Eagles D. I got my ass handed to me 6 ways to Sunday.

No only Lance Moore, Reggie Bush managed to average 2.0 yds per carry and have two fumbles. Not that I had any better options on my bench, but still. I had the same conversation with a co-worker… six touchdowns and not one to Bush? Damn, that sucks. Once Pierre Thomas comes back, he touches are going to go down even further. Time to make a move.

In my money league, I need a decent night (6.5 points) from Welker tonight. Hopefully, he plays.

Or, more literally, 5 ways on Sunday.

Oooh, that’s going to leave a mark.

So, even though LT had a mediocre game, TO was basically a no-show and I’m 1-0.

So a guy in my league just dropped Cutler as his backup QB and took Flacco instead. I have Peyton and Schaub. My basic plan has been to just start Manning every week regardless. His bye week is 6. So, options:

  • Drop Schaub for Cutler.
  • Drop someone else for Cutler.
  • Pick up Garrard instead (good week 6 matchup)

In week 6, Schaub is @ Cincinnatti, Cutler is @ Atlanta, and Garrard is home to St. Louis. Cutler might also be useful in a future trade, as probably somebody’s QB will get knocked out.

Advice?

I would stand pat unless you’re already wasting a roster spot on someone without Cutler’s upside. Who are your backups at other positions?

I haven’t made any moves since the draft, so my team is still:

This league starts: QB, RB, WR, TE, K, DEF, WR/RB, WR/RB, WR/TE

It looks to me like I won’t have a huge number of decisions on who to start each week. I basically start Manning, Peterson, Jackson, Ocho, Williams, and someone else for the last flex spot. Although maybe S. Jax will disappoint this year.
