Fantasy football general discussion

Anyone interested in weighing in on my dilemma?

The Chargers and the Ravens are playing today. One of my fantasy teams has Rivers as the QB, with Flacco as back-up.

Rivers is the guy with the big-passing rep, and he has some great receivers as well. But he’s playing against a damned good defense today, and the whole Chargers offense looked a bit rusty last week.

Flacco is coming off his biggest game ever as a starting QB, and he just looks generally solid and safe, even if he’s not especially flashy. And the SD defense also looked pretty thin in places last week, especially against the pass.

And, as a tie-breaker, i’m a Ravens fan, so if all other things are equal, i’d prefer to choose Flacco.

Any opinions?

I’d go with Flacco for all the reasons you outlined.

I think you’re right. I was leaning in that direction anyway, but now i have someone to blame when i choose Flacco, and Rivers puts up 400 yards and 6 TDs.

So, after all my bitching, I’m within 14 points of winning. We’re both done for the day, but I still have Dallas Clark tomorrow night. 1 TD, 4 catches and 60 yds would do the trick. Certainly not a sure thing, but not impossible.

I actually would have had an easy time of it today, but I got Gored.

As it turned out, Rivers would have given me 4 more points, but it was pretty close. 2 TDs each, Rivers with more yards but also with one more interception than Flacco.

Anyway, bigs day from Willis McGahee and from Vincent Jackson means i should win my match-up pretty easily this week.

The year has not started well for me. In every game I’ve played so far (4 leagues, 2 games) I’ve been a projected score favorite. In at least half of them a projected 10+ point favorite. But I’ll be lucky if I end up with a 4-4 record… probably 3-5 and possibly 2-6. Ugh.

As much as I was thinking I pulled off a great heist, I’m starting to with I had kept Steve Smith. Guy had a monster game tonight against the Cowboys. (134 yards, 1 TD)

I ended up going with the Jets instead of the Eagles because I thought Brady looked much shakier last week than Brees. Turned out to be a good pick, as the Jets scored 9 while the Eagles scored -3.

The Falcons weren’t available, and I wouldn’t have signed a third defense anyway just on general principle, but they did score 10 points so that was a pretty solid recommendation.

After a horrible Week 1, I had some monster showings this week. Benched Matt Schaub for Jason Campbell in the HHM league thereby leaving 20 points on the bench (:smack:) but scored 120 points anyway with Dallas Clark yet to play. Huge game from Gore, even though he basically left the game at halftime. I’ll need a big game from Dallas Clark and a horrible showing by Miami’s D tonight to pick up high score of the week.

Got a win in my NFL.com league- needed 16 points to tie with just Marion Barber left to play, and Barber usually does poorly against the Giants. Thankfully he broke the 16 point mark on his last play from scrimmage before tweaking his quad. Phew.

Up by 10 in the auction league, which I was close to giving up on for the season at 4 o’clock. Hamlet still has Addai left though.

Posted nearly 160 points in the dynasty league basically through solid production from every player plus a huge game from Schaub. Unfortunately The Gusterrhoids put up 165, despite losing McNabb.

Sorry man. Between Frank Gore’s monster day and 22 from Willis McGahee (who I subbed in for Reggie Bush on Sunday around noon), I had my best fantasy day ever.

Which of course means I probably won’t win another game all season and will probably end up 2-12.

I did terrible. My big league loss is really going to hurt. Not getting Breaston in there for Welker was a horrible error (despite blaming this friggin’ iphone app - it’s still my fault) that cost me 10 points. But Lance Moore is just not an option - NINE other players got a reception for the Saints yesterday! How is he the 10th option?! I thought you called the 10th option the Center.

He left the game in the first quarter.

Yep. As I expected, turned a win into a loss. It was only a 3 point loss despite being Chris Johnson’d.

YAY! Ronnie Brown doesn’t suck.

I’m in 4 leagues this year, and I’m heavily invested in 3 backs that I have in 2 leagues each: Ronnie Brown, Pierre Thomas, and Steve Slaton. In week 1, we had Thomas out with injury and Slaton and Brown put up like 6 points each. In week 2, Thomas is still out, Slaton put up a few points, and it came down to Brown who at least showed something.

Hopefully Slaton improves, having only faced good defenses so far, his schedule in the coming weeks is much more favorable. I don’t expect the Dolphins to run as much as they did today, but ffs please give Brown more than 50% of the carries. Isn’t Ricky Williams 40 years old by now?

Thomas… woops. Maybe.

I have Brown in one of my leagues, too. I already had this week’s contest wrapped up before tonight’s game, but it was still good to see Brown put up some decent numbers.

Dallas Clark kicked ass and took me to 2-0.

I have Marion Barber in all but one of my five leagues, so I’m really hoping this leg injury is minor. I also have Washington’s defense in three leagues, so I’m really hoping they remember how to sack quarterbacks in time for the Detroit game.

Manning to Clark was a nice bump to top score in my league. Clinton Portis continues to do nothing for me, but he’ll get my second RB spot again next week, as he’s running against Detroit.

My largest concern is McNabb, he’s my back up QB, will he be back in week 6?

McNabb is your backup?

Well, Manning’s my starter =). We lost a couple of people this year, and the Pats fans I play with have this thing about the Eagles and Colts
