Fantasy football general discussion

For my flex guy this week I’m trying to choose between Steve Smith (Giants) or Devery Henderson. Thoughts?

If you expect to lose, start Henderson. He could pay off big or not at all. If you expect to win or be close, start Smith.

Gotta pick 2 between Ronnie Brown (SD), Darren Sproles (Mia), Felix Jones (Car), and Pierre Thomas (BUF) with standard scoring.

Ronnie Brown seems like a must start after last week, but I don’t know. Felix Jones is due for a big week with Barber out and Carolina giving up massive yards on the ground. Sproles managed to put up a lot of points last week, but most came on one big play. Pierre Thomas may not be 100%, but with Mike Bell out there probably won’t be a ton of sharing going around and that offense puts up tons of points.

Felix Jones for sure. Definitely not Pierre Thomas. Between Brown and Sproles, I’d go with whomever is facing a worse run defense. They happen to face each other, but I don’t know who shuts the run down better.

Because of injuries to LT, Cadillac Williams and Mike Bell (and Lynch still suspended,) I have to play Sproles and Tashard Choice at the RB slots this week. If Barber doesn’t play at all, Choice might have a* little* value.

Looks like Miami is much better against running backs than San Diego, though still not great. That plus Sproles being a injury replacement makes Brown the much better pick, IMO. Felix Jones looks even better than I originally thought given that Carolina is poor against running backs.

Ronnie Brown I think is a must start, considering what the Dolphins tried to do last week, and Jamal Williams being out for the season will make SD soft up the middle.

And Thomas may have a big day, but he’s clearly the biggest risk.

I guess the real decision is Sproles/Jones.

Barber is not officially out yet. You’re going to be in trouble if you get to Monday night and find that he’s playing, if you go with Jones.

Fair enough. I solved the situation by dealing Felix Jones to Barber’s owner in return for Donald Driver, who I need with Welker being out.

I’m going against my homer instincts this week, starting LeSean McCoy in 2 leagues where I could be starting Harrison. Mostly a matchup issue.

MUST. FIGHT. HOMER. INSTINCT.

They just announced that Cadillac is active. Do I start him and his sore knee against the G-Men, or take a risk with Tashard Choice tomorrow night?

I’d take a risk with Choice, but it’s a tricky one. TB probably won’t be running much, and they’ll back off a bit with Williams since he’s hurt and they’ve embraced a 3 man backfield. Choice may get a decent fraction of the carries if Barber is out, and Carolina gives up more on the ground.

Yeah, that’s the way I’m leaning. I keep hearing that Dallas is going to rest Barber rather than risk further injury.

Hope you didn’t start Cadillac. The whole Buccaneer offense is being taken behind the woodshed by the G-Men.

I did not. We’ll see if Choice does anything tomorrow, but it can’t be much worse than the 'llac.

I am relieved to see that Pierre Thomas is awesome, as I am heavily invested into him.

Unfortunately I didn’t start him in either of the leagues where I could’ve benefitted from his 126 yard, 2 TD performance.

In one of my leagues, i picked up Willis McGahee as a relatively late-round backup, but he’s been in my starting roster for the last couple of weeks and is really putting up some good numbers.

He’s not getting the most carries on the Ravens offense, but he gets plenty down in the red zone, and already has 5 TDs in the 3 games.

I took McGahee wherever I was able. Knew he’d get the lion’s share of the action for the Ravens this year; I just didn’t know their offense was going to be good enough to give him this many opportunities.

ETA: Incidentally, when are you people going to start listening? Darren Sproles is not a good running back. He’s a scatback, and giving him 20 carries a game is not going to turn him into a feature back.

Start listening what? I asked for opinions on my RB situation and you didn’t say anything.

I would still have started him in your case, simply because he was bound to get more touches. I was speaking more generally, though - everyone I know, plus all the talking heads, keep talking about Sproles as if he’s supposed to be a star, but in truth all he’s done this year is take a pass 80 yards (and there was nobody covering him on the play, so it wasn’t difficult).

What the fuck happened to Eddie Royal? I thought he’d be checkdown Orton’s go to guy. I passed up DeSean Jackson for him in the dynasty league and I should probably be shot in the face for it.
