I’m not either, but in the Big League I don’t really have any other options. So in he goes. I’ve already resigned this week to the loss column (too many players on bye weeks), so anything he does is a bonus.
Well, I kind of need 2 of those 3… Or I could play Choice against Denver, but I hear Barber is back this week. I’m leaning towards Williams because Ward and Graham are both banged up (Ward missed practice Wed. not sure about yesterday) and with Johnson in there at QB I expect a lot of running plays.
ETA: Ward missed practice again yesterday.
Really shitty keeper roster, that should say.
My options at RB in the all pro league this week. MJD in slot 1, and one of Pierre Thomas vs NYJ, Marion Barber @ DEN, Glen Coffee vs StL, Knowshon Moreno vs DAL, Jerome Harrison vs Cin.
My RBs put up 100 points last week with Barber out, but I lost since I can only start 2 RBs in the league. But this is a tricky decision. Thomas did 124 yards/2 TDs in one half last week, but he’s against the tough Jets. Barber, if healthy, will get the bulk of the carries against DEN with Choice out. Coffee vs StL is actually probably a big day, since he’s talented and they don’t plan to get away from their run mentality. I’m actually leaning towards starting Coffee.
I AM THE KING OF BENCH SCORING!
Coffee’s your man. No need to take a risk on Barber (could aggravate the injury after a carry or two just like Gore did last week).
Gore’s injury was unrelated to his previous ankle injury sir. Different bones/ligaments involved.
… I know too much about fantasy football.
That’s what they want you to think.
It actually sounds pretty nasty. Pick up Coffee if he’s available in your league.
Player: Frank Gore
Injury: High Ankle Sprain
Healing Time: 2-6 weeks
Impact on the Field: This injury is a very serious one. Gore injured the joint directly above his ankle involving the two shinbones. These bones are separated when the ankle is driven outward or awkwardly receives pressure downward creating a force that penetrates the joint of the shin. This injury is painful and also very limiting. It is not a quick-healing injury. The 49er offense revolves around Gore making this a troublesome injury for the team. They are already devoid of playmakers and depend heavily on a strong defense and rushing attack. Glen Coffee becomes an immediate pickup and should receive the majority of carries. Expect Gore to miss at least 2-3 weeks.
Having trouble deciding what to do with my RB/WR flex in one of my leagues this week.
Sproles @ PIT (my usual flex but the Steelers, ugh)
Kevin Walter vs OAK
Percy Harvin vs GB
Any suggestions?
Points for return yardage?
ETA: I got Coffee with my final pick in the HHM league, thankfully.
No return yardage, but return TDs and 0.5 PPR.
May as well use Sproles then. He’s either going to be back to the bench or squashed by a 400-pound lineman sooner rather than later.
Finally a good week for me. The backs I’m heavily invested in - the ones I own in multiple leagues - Ronnie Brown, Pierre Thomas, Steve Slaton, and Jerome Harrison all kicked ass. Knowshon is the other one and he did pretty well too.
Also a good week here. My money league had someone inexplicably drop (or was he even picked up?) Steve Smith (NYG). It’s only 10 teams, so there’s not a lot of depth. That was a good pickup… Short of Percy Harvin and Mendenhall outscoring Purple Jesus by 37 points tommorow, that’s a win.
In the HHM league, I picked up M. Lewis for my TE bye. That was a nice free 13.60 points. My three WR set is also paying off there - Moss/Megatron/Wayne combined for a nice day, and Cutler was a fantastic bye week fill-in for Ryan with 21.5 points. Slaton finally pulled through as well, which was nice. Short of Gates outscoring the SD defense by 25 points, that’s a win.
And in the 20 team league, I picked up Austin “Lassie” Collie on a whim, who netted me 15.5 points to make up for D. Bowe apparently sitting most of the game out. Stafford had a great game for the low expectations I set for him, and my kicker even threw in double digits. Short of Ryan Grant and Percy Harvin (again) putting up 50 more points than Pittsburgh’s defense, that’s 3-0 for the week.
The only thing keeping me from 4 - 0 is Percy Harvin scoring 37 points tomorrow night. Steve Smith (NYFG) had a great week, and the rest of my lineup was well-balanced, with Megatron, Flacco, Cadillac, Moreno, Choice and Dallas Clark all going for 10+ pts.
When somebody drops a guy who is in the top 5 in scoring at his position (and is #1 overall in PPR leagues) it’s time to kick that guy out.
Egad - Smith was never drafted. That’s not terrible in a 10 team league, there was doubt about all of the Giants receivers this year. But since draft day, here’s the WRs that have been picked up ($ values for those picked up off of waivers with FAAB):
M. Jenkins ($1)
J. Gage
M. Manningham ($10)
D. Henderson
The Manningham pickup can only be explained as the fact that we’re all Notre Dame fans, and watched him torch us a few years ago.
(Oh, and in a money league, you don’t kick the guy out - you ask if he has any other friends who want to join!
)
Whoops. That would be Gates outscoring the SD defense by 17 points, and he’s 2.44 points away from doing just that…
Holy…
And thanks to Gates and Rivers, I’m taking a loss in a league that will drop me to 2-2.
Week 1: Win 86.96 - 67.32
Week 2: Loss 116.60 - 138.82
Week 3: Win 72.16 - 66.58
Week 4: Loss 124.84 - 140.06 (plus whatever Rivers, Gates, and Holmes get in the last 4:31 and Jennings tomorrow)
I’m 3rd in points for and 10th in points against. This is a ridiculous start to the year.
