That’s not the same issue. Mendenhall seems to not want to actually be a grown up NFL running back and is trying to piss his coach off.
I don’t know if they’re using Brown to keep Addai fresh or to supplant him, though. It’s vexing. Also, in the league’s format, Addai is clearly the higher point earner.
I was .51 points from winning in all 4 of my leagues this week. Gah! 6 more yards from someone was all I needed…
Oh well. Time to dig myself out of a hole with a 1-3 start in the all-pro league.
With Eli possibly down, is Steve Smith still a start? Mario Manningham got dropped in one of my leagues, should I try to pick him up? - I’d have to drop Johnny Knox
I think he might be an even better option without Eli- with Carr at QB, defenses will load up against the run, so Smith will have tons of room. Same for Manningham, although I wouldn’t start him until you see if Carr is allowed to go downfield.
10 team league:
QB - Brady, Schaub
RB - Chris Johnson, Steven Jackson, Pierre Thomas, Fred Jackson, Glen Coffee
WR - Gage, Driver, Sims-Walker, Marshall, Williams
TE - Heap
K - Feely
DEF - San Francisco

[li]Good draft and some good early trades got me to 4-0 but now I’m working on preserving that spot.[/li][li]I am desperately trying to trade one of my QBs. One of guy has Sanchez and Edwards but won’t make a deal for some reason.[/li][li]Do I waive Glen Coffee and Fred Jackson for Mendenhall and Moreno?[/li][li]What about Roy Williams and Justin Gage for Antonio Bryant and Eddie Royal? Berrian is also available.[/li][/ul]
That team looks a bit… well, weak, really, for a 10-team league. Still, you’re 4-0, so what do I know?
Go get Berrian and Royal. Don’t bother with Bryant- too much weird stuff going on at the QB spot in Tampa. Drop Gage for Mendenhall if you like. Don’t drop Coffee or Jackson.
That’s my concern; I look at the waiver wire and I can’t help but feel that there are some major upgrades out there. I usually place no value in K and DEF and tend to stream them but I may have found in a winner in San Francisco.
God damn Yahoo. A guy wants to put some boobs up on his team logo and it keeps getting taken down. What is this, Disney World?
I’m surprised they actually have people working on censoring the images of gazillion yahoo teams.
Or maybe it’s like google’s safesearch technology where they have a BoobDetector 3000.
Could be, but probably the more likely answer is that someone in my 4 leagues is reporting the image. Since 3 of those leagues are SDMB and 1 is with friends I’d be surprised but your suggestions seem less likely.
Hell, it’s not like cleavage is more than PG-13. I suppose Yahoo’s entire “upload an image” feature could be buggy causing random images to be dumped sporadically, or now that Toyota is sponsoring a “create a logo” tool they are pretty liberal about culling them for any reason.
Who knows, I find it pretty silly of Yahoo in any case. Makes me wonder what would happen if I uploaded a image of a cheerleader.
Going into Week 5, I’m 4 - 0. After numerous waiver moves over the first 4 weeks, here is my current team. (I have an active waiver claim to pick up Kevin Walters, who just became available, and drop Devery Henderson, but I won’t know if it goes through until Friday.) I have depth, but no superstars at RB, unless LDT makes a come-back. Where am I weakest?
QB- K. Warner
QB- J. Flacco
RB- L. Tomlinson
RB- M. Lynch
RB- T. Choice
RB- K. Moreno
RB- Cadillac Williams
RB- Jerome Harrison
RB- D. Sproles
WR- Calvin Johnson
WR- A. Boldin
WR- S. Smith (NYFG)
WR- D. Henderson
WR- A. Bryant
TE- D. Clark
K- N. Folk
D- NYJ
How many teams in the league? How many do you start at each position?
I’d start rooting for you?
10 teams.
1 QB
2 RB
2 WR
1 TE
1 K
1 D
1 Flex (WR/RB/TE)
Running back, and it’s not even close. All that depth could make up for the lack of stars in theory, but even when you know what you’re doing it’s really hard to play the matchups right with roughly equal backs because you never know which guy will get a couple of cheap touchdowns.
If Lynch regains the featured job or Jerome Harrison manages to keep up last week’s production you’re golden, but I don’t think either scenario is likely. Can you package like three of your guys (say, Lynch, Moreno and Harrison) and swing a trade for Marion Barber?
Nothing wrong with Moreno. Buckhalter is dinged up, so Moreno is about to get some love in the Bronco backfield.
Wow. That sounded REALLY gay.
[Mick Foley] Every time Csonka bent over I wanted to put some yardage in his backfield. [/MF]
I’m not impressed with Moreno, and I’m still not buying the Denver offense. To me he’s an ideal #3, but not a #1. Remember, the Broncos still have LaMont Jordan, who I’m betting will see at least 25% of the carries. Isn’t Ryan Torain still on their roster too?
ETA: Plus the Broncos’ schedule goes like this over the next few weeks: Pats, Chargers, bye, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Washington, San Diego, Jets.
You see more than 1 100-yard game in there? I don’t.
No, I see two. Pittsburgh is again very good against the run, and Baltimore is too, though they aren’t as good defending a RB in the passing game. Washington gives up more yards rushing than people think.
But San Diego hasn’t been good against the run at all this year, and they’re on that list twice. They’ve given up the fourth most yards rushing to RBs in the entire NFL. And their YPC average is pretty bad too, very near 5, and in the bottom ten in the league. They’ve given up a ton of rushing TDs, too.
Alright, so a story or two…
The first will probably inspire some more “you play in a silly league” comments. After Week 2 I had contacted Matt Forte’s owner saying I was interested in trading for him, thinking I could buy low. The Bears-Seahawks game came and went, and Forte still didn’t break out. So the owner comes back to me with the following trade offer:
SEND Julius Jones
REC Matt Forte
REC Marion Barber
I stare at the screen for a few seconds, quickly check the news sites to make sure they haven’t suffered season ending ACL injuries, and then accept. League manager sends an email a few hours later saying he’s vetoing the trade for being unfair. (FWIW, the owner I’m trading with won our regular season last year). I tell the LM I’ll throw in Braylon Edwards, would that make it fair? And he begrudgingly lets it slide.
So now at RB I’ve got Steven Jackson, Forte, Barber, Benson, Ray Rice, Donald Brown and Fred Jackson. In a 12 man league. Not bad for going RB-WR-WR in the first three rounds.
Now, the question… I’m wonder where to upgrade my team. (Rest is QB: Rivers, Orton; WR: Jennings, White, Santana Moss; 49ers DST and Dustin Keller at TE. I had taken Jennings/White as my 2 and 3 round picks; they’ve both been underperforming.
I’m trading Brandon Marshall for Calvin Johnson straight up… a good trade?
What do you guys think about Sims-Walker? He looks like he might be up-and-comer. Might try to trade Jennings straight up for him (I think White will eventually get his act going; I’m not sure if Jennings will since he’s held back by Rodgers not having enough time behind a poor O-line).
Oh, and if you’re curious… I’m currently 1-2. Week 2 I got edged by Frank Gore’s monster day, Week 3 was getting gashed by Peyton’s 4-TD night, and Week 4 I had a bye (thus frittering away the highest game score in the league so far). So some of it’s been bad luck, but at the same time… I’m 1-2.
