So, I had a 4.4 pt lead going into the game last night, and he had Mike Bell. 1.9 pts.
Motherfuc… I totally forgot to put claims in for Moats. Dammit.
heh, VarlosZ just threw in a “never gonna get him but what the hell” addendum claim on him in the keeper league. I wasn’t paying attention to anything after the devastating 1-2 punch in the gut NY took at 1pm on Sunday; why is Moats valuable? Did Addai get hurt?
Moats is actually on Houston. Slaton got the ball taken away from him, and Moats ran up an ungodly amount of yards and 3 TDs.
It’s not clear whether Slaton was benched just for the rest of the game or for more games, so Moats might end up having no value at all. You do have to put an asterisk next to his name since it was against Buffalo, whose run defense is atrocious.
Very true. But at this point in the season in a 20-team league, even the glimmer of upside is worth the #1 waiver spot.
I didn’t bother putting in a claim in either of my standard 10-team leagues.
That’s true, and he still has value as a handcuff for Slaton and maybe as the goal-line back even if he doesn’t keep the starting job.
Personally, I’m fairly certain he won’t; Slaton is just too good at catching passes out of the backfield.
I was just proposed this trade. It seems bad to me, but I thought I’d run it by here in case there’s an argument I’m missing.
I give: Schaub QB HOU, Knox WR CHI
I get: McNabb QB PHI, Smith WR NYG
I’m weak in WRs (Ocho, Roy Williams, Santana Moss, Knox). I have Peyton, so I haven’t been using Schaub much. But I figure I’d use McNabb even less, and Smith hasn’t been setting the world on fire lately. Schaub should be worth more surely?
Unless it’s a keeper league, I don’t see any reason why you’d even consider it (and probably not even then). McNabb and Schaub have roughly equal value in seasonal leagues, and Smith is definitely worth more than Knox.
I do think you should shop Schaub - he’s way too valuable to be sitting on somebody’s bench - but not for another quarterback.
How big is this league? Who are the other guy’s QBs and WRs?
I just realized you’re giving Knox, not getting him.
I’d make the trade unless it’s a keeper league.
10 team league, McNabb is his only QB. He does have Percy Harvin as well, maybe replacing Smith with Harvin? The league has 25 return yards = 1 point, so Harvin is tied as the second leading WR. Although that brings up another discussion - I have Peterson, so what are the thoughts on having two starters from the same offense?
For example with Harvin, my normal starters would be:
P Manning
P Harvin
A Peterson
A Gates
C Ochocinco
S Jackson
Pitt Def
Plus one flex spot to be filled by one of: Ricky Williams, Tim Hightower, Roy Williams, Santana Moss, Heath Miller
It’s only really an issue when the two starters are from the same side of the ball, like 2 WRs or a QB and WR. Even then, a QB and WR combo would be a problem just as often as it would be a boon, so two starters from one team isn’t a thing to worry about. Since Harvin’s value is (I’m guessing) at least half from his return yardage, it’s even less of a problem since his points come even when Peterson is getting his and they aren’t competing for touches.
Ah, interesting. He cancelled the origianal trade and proposed this instead:
I get: McNabb, Harvin
He gets: Schaub, Ochocinco
Again, we have 25yds = 1pt for returns, so under this scoring Harvin has 99 points this year compared to 82 for Ocho. Hmm.
Edit: Wow, just received another, from the last place team in the league:
I get: Romo, Colston
He gets: Schaub, Ocho
I suppose I might counter this new trade, offering Knox instead of Ocho.
I’d like to be part of whatever magical league this is that people actually propose trades.
What, you aren’t satisfied that it took more negotiation for us to try to pull off an all pro trade than it took to write the treaty of versailles?
I wouldn’t give away Ocho if I could avoid it. Certainly not for Harvin who will be inconsistent and seems to be on the injury report all the time. I’d move him for Colston straight up, and probably 3 or 4 other WRs, but that’s about it.
Agree with the people questioning the entire premise of trading Schaub for a similar QB. McNabb and Romo are both comparable, if you are going to get back a QB who’ll just be on your bench why bother? The whole point of moving Schaub is to get a big upgrade at a position, getting a small incremental upgrade at WR misses the point.
That was fine, and fun, but last I checked that All Pro league has 12 people, not two, right?
Fair enough. If it’ll make you feel a little better, we could try to work out a trade in the auction league. I can get my lawyers drawing up the initial proposals.
I have a close one going in a non SDMB league game. I have a 4 point lead with Brandon Marshall starting in tonight’s game - he has Hines Ward and Heath Miller.
I wouldn’t be in this dilemma if I had just started my regular defense (Bengals). I got cute and picked up the Packer defense, figuring they could run it up on the hapless Bucs. Well, it was the Pack D that was hapless as they scored -4, while the Bengals scored 12.
