Which of the 19 options did you attach to Turner?
Also - I want to know if any Maurice Jones Drew owners lost their game by less than 6 points. Dude put up serious points (again), but took a knee at the 1 yard line to seal the win. He actually apologized to his fantasy owners in the presser! I have him in the 20 team league, but didn’t need the points.
There’s only one: Jason Snelling. Jerious Norwood has been out for a while with an injury.
The team I’m tied for 3rd with in my money league has Turner, and I have Snelling.
I also have McCoy, so injuries gave me more options.
I sense a loaded trade offer coming your way.
That would be nice, but no one ever trades in this league. I think there were 4 trades one year, and that was the most I ever saw. There have been no trades this year so far.
I’m satisfied either way. My #1 running back is Chris Johnson, the rest have been less than great… Kevin Smith, Tomlinson, and I had McFadden before dropping him.
#1 pick next year, All Day or Johnson?
Depends on how the rest of the season goes. If Vince Young continues to play the way he is now- ie., providing a credible passing threat and keeping the Titans in games- I’d have to think hard about Johnson.
If Young turns back into… well, Vince Young, I’d be worried about drafting Johnson #1. Not thrilled about the prospect of him continuing to produce (like he is right now) with a rookie quarterback at the helm of the offense.
All that said, personally I’d stick with Peterson. There’s a chance Johnson could regress next year.
Er, I see no reason why MJD wouldn’t be in that discussion. I had him at #1 this year and he’s done nothing to change that impression.
He went down at the 1, that son of a bitch! If I’d had a credible opponent in the auction league this week that could have cost me dearly.
I devalue MJD because I have yet to see him prove that he can be an every-down back. Hell, even this year he hasn’t carried the ball all that much. If he’s still running hard at the end of this season on the 330th carry, we’ll talk.
Call it the Marion Barber effect.
Yeah, that’s an automatic DQ.
That’s because he keeps ripping off 30 yard runs! Anyway - he’s 6th in carries this year, and averages 5.1 ypc.
I’d put Johnson higher on the board next year, but I don’t trust his system. He’s still a bit injury prone, and I’d rather go with a reliable choice, even if it means a *slightly *lower ceiling.
Plus, I’m still pissed I thought he was off the board when I drafted Slaton last year in He Hate Me.
It’s an interesting choice; I think in a normal fantasy setup, week-to-week volatility can be an asset in some cases.
I like Johnson. He can break for a TD at any time, just like AP, and he catches out of the backfield. He’s actually getting stronger so far. I don’t have to worry about where to draft him next year because he’ll be one of my keepers next year unless something bad happens.
He’s the reason I’m in contention because my early draft picks have fizzled fairly badly. LT has been disappointing, Jennings has been inconsistant, and I thought that Smith would run better in Detroit. My whole draft plan got scrapped early because all the elite or almost elite QBs got picked between my first and second pick, and I wasn’t drafting Eli in the second round.
Not in the playoffs. And if you’re not drafting with the playoffs in mind, you’re doing it wrong. Volatility is for the mid-rounds - not your first pick.
I’ve done a ton of moving on my all-pro roster this year. Has anyone had as much change to their roster as I have?
My drafted roster:
QB Hasselbeck
RB MJD
WR Steve Smith (CAR)
WR Anthony Gonzalez
W/R Pierre Thomas
TE Visanthe Shiancoe
K (none drafted, picked up a random free agent)
DEF Cleveland
BN Marion Barber, Ray Rice, Knowshon Moreno, Lance Moore, LeSean McCoy, Josh Cribbs, Jerome Harrison, Devery Henderson
and my roster as it stands now:
QB Ben Roethlisberger
RB Ronnie Brown
WR Reggie Wayne
WR Randy Moss
W/R Pierre Thomas
TE Zack Miller
K John Carney
DEF Eagles
BN Marion Barber, Matt Hasselbeck, Jeremy Maclin, Knowshon Moreno, LeSean McCoy, Ryan Moats, Ladell Betts
I took a downgrade in replacing MJD with Ronnie Brown, but I turned my receivers from nothing into the two top scoring in the league. I got a top 7 or so QB, and went from one of the worst defenses to one of the best. I did trade away Ray Rice for very little… but this was after week 1, when it looked like he wasn’t going to be too productive … remember how McGahee stole everything for the first few weeks?
I think I managed to upgrade everything except losing MJD, and TE was a sidegrade.
So, Munch just offered me a trade of Jamaal Charles for Chris Johnson straight up in HHM. What’s the appropriate level of ridicule that should be applied in this situation?
Keep in mind I’m one spot ahead of him in the standings and he’s giving some song and dance about me building for next year…even though CJ is a keeper candidate himself. And people wonder why I scorn the idea of drafting to trade.
I don’t think anyone wondered why you scorned the idea of “drafting to trade”, we scorned the idea that you think making a trade is a sign of failure. Getting a bad trade offer doesn’t do anything to prove your case here.
For some reason I thought you were Spiritus, who’s second to bottom of the rankings. If I’d have rechecked, I wouldn’t have offered. In that situation, I don’t see much wrong with the trade.
Other than the fact that Chris Johnson is really, really good and will be really, really good next year… and Jamaal Charles is not really, really good?
