No.

Ah, the forecast has worsened, even. Probably more like 15-20 degrees with something like a -10 wind chill, snow, and 35 mph wins. Is there a threshold at which I should switch over to Hasselbeck? Normally Houston is a good matchup, but they’ve been doing well against the pass lately.

Bah.

I probably ought to wander around in here from time to time. I had Roethlisberger and Santonio Holmes for tonite then, walking between buildings for lunch and freezing my butt off, I suddenly snapped; if it’s this cold and windy waaay down here, in Cleveland…

Ro had 417 last time they played. Bummer.

So, is Jerome Harrison going to outscore Kevin Smith at Baltimore or Sidney Rice against CIN? Can he get it done in crappy weather and against a PIT D with something to prove?

No, the commish should lock non-playoff team rosters once the final regular season game is played.

Tough call. I think he might get a lot of receptions tonight, so if you have any sort of PPR that might swing it. Trying to be objective I would say that’s a really close call and I would probably go with Harrison due to personal favoritism, but Sidney Rice probably has the highest upside.

Conditions now are 15f with a -5f wind chill, 27 mph winds gusting up to 42. That is not good passing weather. I think I may have to sit Ben… but then again he may score 2 or 3 short passing TDs. Hmm…

I’m sitting him for McNabb, FWIW.

I sat Harrison, thank heavens. Is Jennings going to get the carries from here on out? Seemed like it Thursday night, but he is just a rookie. Why are they not giving the ball to Harrison?

So what are my chances…

I’ve got Alex Smith and he’s got Boldin, Crabtree, and 1.3 points. I need to win to make the playoffs or else I’m spending the whole off-season mumbling about being the highest scorer and bemoaning the fact that Ryan/Cutler tandem failed me down the stretch.

If Crabtree and Boldin can stay out of the endzone, I have a shot. If they get in then I’ll need a monster day from Smith and the 49ers’ new spread offense.

Practice your mumble.

Any potential Yahoo scoring adjustments from yesterday? I’m thinking of sitting Breaston to secure a tiny lead in the fear he fumbles and loses it for me.

Well, I’ve now lost my third great player to IR, right when the playoffs start. Now Kevin Smith joins Owen Daniels and Ronnie Brown on the trash-heap and I need to pick up a free agent RB who I may have to start because Jerome Harrison, Correll Buckhalter, and Rock Cartwright have all but disappeared this week.

I could replace him with the Lions’ new RB, and I really like Aaron Brown (I think he’s far and away more talented than Maurice Morris), but I’m thinking the Lions will split carries between the two. Plus, it’s the Lions, so they are seriously limited in fantasy points.

Or I can once again hit the pile of useless crap on the waiver wire. The big names (snort) out there are Quinton Ganther (who plays the Giants and Cowboys), Chris Jennings (who has the lowly Chiefs and the tough Raiders), Darren McFadden or Justin Fargas (Denver and Chiefs), and Felix Jones (Saints & Redskins).

Right now, I’m leaning toward Jennings because of the matchups, but I’m not sure if he’s even going to get the touches. McFadden I think has the upside, but again, the issue is touches. And Felix has the same issue, and faces tough Defenses.

What say you’se guys.

Ganther scored twice yesterday. McFadden is worthless. Jones is too boom-or-bust, and hasn’t had the same sort of impact since he got hurt earlier this season.

I’d go with Ganther because he WILL get the touches.

And that waiver wire looks stronger than in any of my leagues. Ganther was picked up in every league last week, and McFadden, if he’s even available, will be gone this week.

Any concrete information about whether the Colts are going to sit their starters? I figure I’ll start Schaub against St. Louis instead of Manning anyway, but it would be useful to know.

"Indianapolis Colts head coach Jim Caldwell said his team will prepare for Thursday’s game against Jacksonville the way it has for the first 13 games of the season and will only rest players that are injured.

The Colts are 13-0 and have already clinched home-field advantage throughout the AFC playoffs.

In previous seasons under Tony Dungy, the Colts have rested key players once their playoff seeding has been cemented.

Caldwell, in his first season at the helm, said Monday the team will not differ from its preparation from the first 13 games.

“We’re going to approach the 14th game as we did 1-13,” said Caldwell. "We’re going to go out and play just as we have done the previous 13.

“The only thing that will deter anyone from playing time is health issues.”

Caldwell added that things could change after this week, and that he is not looking “beyond this game.”
From here

Resting starters usually ended badly for the Colts. The one year they had to fight it out till the end they won the superbowl, and in others where they sat starters for 2 weeks they looked rusty and got bounced out in round 1. Yet they kept doing it…

Mike & Mike had quotes from a bunch of Colts players this morning and it seemed like to a man they all wanted to play out the string.

Well I guess I have a decision to make then, Schaub @ StL or Manning @ Jax. I’m a fairly big favorite, so I was planning to play Schaub to be safe, since the possibility is there for Manning to get pulled.

Ok, after a first round playoff bye, I have to make a decision on my flex player this week. It’s the playoffs, dammit! These are my 3 best options:

LDT v. Cincy (He’s been scoring consistently, but no yardage)
**
Steve Smith (NYG) v. Washington** (Still getting a lot of targets; and it’s MNF)

Santonio Holmes v. GB (Has been very productive from my bench)
