FAQ improvements

Just the other day I was trying to figure out how to use subscripts. The vendor-supplied information in vB does not mention them. I just stumbled across a thread where Arnold reveals that there are {sub} and {sup} tags.

Then, a while ago, I was looking for information on using special character codes, and noticed that there are several threads which get bumped from time to time which contain the information, but lots and lots and lots of new threads and questions asked in this forum about where to find the info.

And then the same is true for things like common acronyms, jargon like “sock puppet”, etc.

Would it be possible to add a page or pages with this information somewhere OTHER than a thread, where we can direct newbies easily, and also have a good reference for ourselves? Maybe put a link to it on the top of the page (if we decide to use another place than the FAQ).

At very least, the vB stuff should be better documented, no?

Thanks for listening…

Upgrading the FAQ has been one of those things we’ve meant to get to, but dealing with other issues such as the troll infestation (to name just one) put all non-essential issues to the back burner.

Next week we’ll be upgrading the system, so we are now starting to get to a place where we can begin working on some of these other fixes . . . like the FAQ.

Sorry for your inconvenience, we’re getting there, please try to be a little more patient.

What’s available right now is the vB boilerplate . . . it’s not correct in some cases and not applicable in others. We’ll get to it when we can.
