I think it was just the linguistic reference they were making. “Mal” = bad.
Unless the bullet went clean through her, that wouldn’t hold up for long.
River? Is that You?
Malvo sends Stavros to the “Gustafson Parking Garage”! Looks like Wade Gustafsons’s business partner Stan Grossman made the investment from Jerry Lundegaard’s idea after all! Another link to the movie plot is connected.
Cops almost always wear bullet proof vests these days. A bullet to the chest has enough wumpf to knock somebody wearing one down, if not temporarily knock them out altogether. I wouldn’t worry about Molly.
I love this show!
A)I agree that Molly could be ‘stunned’ by a hit to her vest.
B)It’s very possible to kill someone wearing a vest. The obvious shot to the head would do it. But there are cases of officers having a bullet slip through the arm hole and getting them in the heart. Though, IME, this tends to happen (for all the angles to line up) when the bad guy shoots them while the officer is still in seated in their car.
C)I agree that they’ve built up a lot in the romance and it would be odd to throw it out
D)If this really is a miniseries of 10 shows and it’s over that would be a nice way to introduce some drama into it. It’s more than half over. We were super invested in Molly, yet we barely knew her. The problem is that now everything is in Gus’ lap. Molly was the best chance we had of figuring this out and Better Call Saul was just coming around, but Gus is going to have to do.
I also noticed she wasn’t bleeding.
I just noticed that the show is rate TV-MA, L, V (Mature Audiences, Language, Violence)
I’m pretty sure Mr. Fish Head Eater Guy must be “Fargo.” And the whole thing with the fish was just anther point towards our status as predators. (Note: Isn’t Billy Bob a vegan? Weird, that)
Are you sure? I recall seeing blood pooling underneath and around her torso.
Forgot to mention another scenario with Molly. There were two gunshots (with a slight pause between) just after Molly goes off to investigate. We might have assumed it was her shooting, since the shots were not an automatic weapon. But perhaps it was Malvo or Numbers who shot Molly. Now, both had automatic weapons, so there would be no pause between shots. Unless… Malvo put his gun on semi-auto. He is the type that would do that, a professional that would use his weapon in a calculated manner professionally, unlike Numbers who would just have sprayed shots. So, maybe the two shots were Malvo shooting Molly, then she stumbles a few steps and falls coincidentally when Gus shoots, hence Gus missed. Just considering another scenario…
It was hard to tell, probably deliberately, whether that was blood or just a flap of her dark brown jacket.
Nope, name is Robert, I go by Bob.
Also, Wade Gustafson was killed by Carl in the parking lot in the movie.
What you said was almost a direct quote from Firefly. That characters name is Mal (short for Malcolm).
I wonder how many non Midwestern people watching that episode called bullshit on the blizzard scene.
Yup, that’s what it’s like.
She was face down in the snow.
If the nephew is autistic, Lester’s biggest problem with his latest scam would seem to be the unsedated Invisible Man.
I don’t know about you but I think most Midwestern people, like myself, have been in whiteout conditions. That’s pretty much what they’re like. You can see about 20 feet in front of you, and then the road just disappears into a sea of white. All you can do is drive slowly and hope the person in front of you is still moving. If you stop, there’s a chance you’ll get rear ended. It’s not much different than driving in really heavy rain.
I also noticed on this episode that the King’s store was an old Kohl’s Food Store. You can tell by the huge arches going across the top. There’s still a bunch of those (repurposed) left in Milwaukee.
When Messrs. Wrench and Numbers showed up at Sam Hess’s office the first time, they introduced themselves by saying, “We’re from Fargo.” So yeah, “Fargo” is , as TruCelt said, the guy eating the fish, or maybe the organization or branch office he’s the head of.
The show states that it’s a true story, not just based on a true story although it seems extremely elaborate for real life. I don’t remember hearing about it in the news.
The same thing was in front of the movie too; nevertheless It’s all fiction. The writers added that for satirical reasons.
Fargo is fiction but the Coen brothers have said that part of the inspiration for the movie came from this murder case.
