Farrah Abraham, one of the stars on the reality show Teen Mom, has been trying to sell a sex tape she’s in. She has been saying it was an amateur tape that she made for herself but has now decided to sell.
Her “co-star” in the sextape is porn actor James Deen. Deen has now publically stated that it was not an amateur tape. He and Abraham were both paid to make the tape. And Abraham has confirmed this.
I just find it hilarious that Deen wants to protect his reputation by making it clear that he would only have sex with Abraham for money. He’s a porn actor but he has his standards - he didn’t want anyone thinking he would actually date a reality show star.
I’m a little surprised that she hit this point this fast. I would have thought she’d be able to cruise the lesser reaches of reality TV for a while longer. I hope the Teen Mom audience sees how quickly she apparently ran out of options.
We used to watch the original Teen Mom and it was a guilty pleasure. Se came across as self-absorbed with a borderline narcissistic disorder. The more I watched the more I started to think the she was actually mentally unwell.
It sounds like she tried to avoid paying dues in porn and to leave a door to back off, by trying to enter the market via the “celebrity sex tape” door.
Thing is, IMO by now the “sextape” phenomenon has pretty much run its course. It’s pretty hard to believe any more that any D-list or F-list has-been or ne’er-was will have a sex tape just casually leak as opposed to being deliberately released.
The big-deal, big-payoff sextapes were for people who already had some level of mainstream or at least scandal-sheet “celeb” cred and who had some “plausible deniability” about not having originally done it for release but “hey might as well get my share if it’s out there anyway” (Pamela/Tommy; Paris Hilton; Kim Kardashian). OTOH obvious desperate attempts to say “hey, look at me, I’m in a sex tape” tend to flop (Tonya Harding, Dustin Diamond).
Then there is *overtly *going into porn after your 15 minutes are up: “OctoMom” Nadya Suleman became a touring stripper and signed on with a “mainstream” porn studio last year, by all reports getting a fair but not stupendous payday. WWE’s Joanie “Chyna” Lawler released amateur-porn tapes with some modest success and eventually it led to going into professional porn. In both cases the trip happened over a period of a few years.
Abraham is (a) apparently going for it within mere months of leaving her show and (b) not a big enough “mainstream” figure to catch a studio’s attention to cast her as a headliner so she resorts to (c) pretending and failing to pass it as a “celebrity sextape” rather than as “I’m going into porn”.
She probably set up a partnership or DBA with whoever did the actual video-making, thus everyone “paying” themselves for the work for legal/tax purposes (so if there’s no sale at least they can write off the loss) but remains the head of an “indie” production that now has to find a distributor.

From everything I’ve heard about James Deen, I’m just going to have to go with his version of the story. Also, if she thinks he’s small, she must have way more long-term problems from child birth than your typical mom, poor thing.
Why would I care about this? I don’t mean to threadshit, but shouldn’t this be one of those MPSIMS threads that gets closed for being too pointless? I can’t believe people have taken a good thing like a sex tape and turned it into this boring non-event.

Like it or not, we’ve had a number of non-celebrities foisted on us through the sex-tape medium, and other actual celebrities who have taken advantage of unintentional leaking. This situation is unique in that- in a world that seemingly can’t get enough of ‘celebrity’ sex tapes, never mind the fact that this one involves an actual professional porn star- the marketing portion (which should have been the easiest part) not only blew up in Abraham’s face, but the ongoing controversy is revealing her to be a completely brain-dead moron, and her mom as a naive enabler. When the porn star is the one who comes out of a situation looking the best out of everyone, the world has officially tilted on its axis.
The story started out exactly as it should have; “REALITY ‘STAR’ SEX TAPE REVEALED!” And had she been smart, she really could’ve played out her plan, with her in the part of the offended victim who decided to take control of a horrible situation and show just how strong (and marketable!) she is. SHE WILL NOT BE SHAMED. Hey, it worked for Kim Kardashian. But she isn’t smart, and it all fell apart fairly quickly, and that’s the real story (whether you think it’s a story or not) that people are interested in.
Personally, I’m slightly interested because I like James Deen.

If she were a regular “porn star” I wouldn’t give her a second look. She’s not that pretty and she really has no body. I’m not into pancakes. Maybe there’s some petite/barely legal niche for her, I guess.
I think the novelty of “celebrity” sextapes (produced or homemade) comes down to a couple factors: 1. The participant is already a notable celebrity or 2. She possesses some notable features and/or participates in activity that might be shocking to vanilla people or displays some notable “skill.” If you are z list I think you better display something like an exceptional body or specific anatomy that is not just typical for any young skinny chick or you are doing water sports, deep throating and getting banged by an exceptionally large partner, anal,etc.
I’m not interested in seeing Chyna have sex, but I recognize some unique qualities she brings in addition to a fairly high profile name. Kim Kardashian had many factors in her favor. Heck, there was some “Bad Girls” woman- I still don’t know her name, but I watched her scenes because she has a great ass. To me this Farrah chick looks like any of 1000s I would pass by on a campus without doing a double take or click past on a free porn tube. I don’t get James Deen’s thing, either. He’s wanted to be in porn since kindergarten, it’s not something that ‘happened’ to him or is a waypoint for a big Hollywood career. “Octomom” got, according to press reports, “a five-figure” upfront payment, plus royalties, for her *professional *porn debut (lame as it was). So someone who headlined her own Reality TV show and had a more or less recognizable nickname/claim to notoriety got less than $100K in cash plus a share of sales. OTOH she was not her own producer so she was not selling “the rights”, just getting paid for performance.
Farrah’s naming a preposterous asking price in order to draw out the self-publicity phase even longer.
Does anyone really believe such turns of events were not anticipated by the producers? These girls were purposely selected for their likelihood to train wreck, in my opinion. It was, and is, a craven use of young women and babies for ratings, with not the slightest regard for how celebrity and money would turn a train wreck into an explosion. I don’t know how anyone connected to this show sleeps at night, to be honest.
