The Sci-Fi channel has announced that they are bringing back Farscape… as a series of 10 “Webisodes”. Article.
I’m not sure what I think about this. As a fan I’m happy to see anything Farscape again, but I’m not sure I like the webisode format and I’m not sure what they mean by “expanding” the series. New characters? Would Ben Browder and Claudia Black be back? When would it take place; after the Peacekeeper Wars?
I’ve been recently re-watching season 4, so I’d be very psyched for a Farscape revival, plus Browder and Black are currently waiting tables and the rest are doing dinner theatre, so it shouldn’t be too hard to get any of them.
I knew that Stargate SG-1 had its series finale. I know nothing about the TV movies - am I to assume they’ve already been green-lighted and started filming?
“A webisode is an episode of a television show that airs initially as an Internet download or stream as opposed to first airing on broadcast or cable television.”
Given that one of the reasons for the cancellation of Farscape was that it was too expensive for the ratings they were getting, it seems highly unlikely that they would completely rebuild the sets (which were destroyed), get the gang back together and make 10 episodes aimed at the Internet as opposed to being aired on the Scifi network. Just not cost effective.
More likely this will be equivalent to that Internet Star Trek series that people have been making on their own time and money out in CA.
Not at all. SciFi made a point of announcing it at their press conference, but didn’t have many details because the deal was only made the day before. They haven’t had a chance to deal with casting issues and such, so there’s no news other than “something’s coming.”
