Nope, nope, nope. You are not expendable. Nope, not to me. At all.
I did, and I am not informed about MMP posts. =(
I must be more observant.
What state do you live in?
I’ve had the first shot, working at a school in Arkansas.
Thank you. My kids and siblings and some friends also seem to find some value in my existence. The state does not.
Washington state. If I were still able to teach, I’d be higher on the list. Since I can’t, state places little value on me. That’s nice that you got the vaccine.
I don’t know what is going on there. The first stage, that I didn’t qualify for was a month or so. I don’t know when the next stage kicks in.
Can you voulenteer at a school to be qualified?
{{{nellie}}} Do your kids or any of your sibs live in a state where you would qualify? Perhaps a temporary relocation would be in order.
No. The state specifies “educators and school staff.” I don’t think anyone would want me as a volunteer anyway due to my vision issues.
My kids live in the same state I do. That’s why I moved here four years ago. I don’t know if I’d qualify in my siblings’ states, but since the nearest one is over 2,000 miles away and I can’t drive, how would I get there?
Fairly quiet, for a Monday. (We run a weekly special “Medibals Monday” where all gummies, chocolate bars, etc. are discounted, which often results in lots of BIG orders.)
Supposed to get COLD this upcoming weekend, highs in the teens and lows in the single digits, so that will be fun.
I don’t blame you for being upset.
“One of us, one of us. We accept him, one of us.” (apologies if I’m wrong about your gender)
TVCTPMO was in spectacular form among callers, manglement (QA counts, IMO), and traffic on the way home. Frozen pizza tonight, which is now in the oven.
(flying tackle-hug) Great to see you!
YOU ARE NOT! (But I understand why you’re feeling this way.) BUT YOU ARE NOT!
Could you bubble up and see them that way?
Any thoughts on nicknames for Maus Magill? M&M? Something mouse related? We already have a mouse. Decisions, decisions.
flytrap Yay!
Mrs Magill is in the same boat. Graves Disease doesn’t count as immuno-compromised in Tennessee. I’m in telecom, which is an essential function, so I’m in group 2B. I’m hoping for May. We really hope Fang and Mrs Magill are able to get the shot before he heads off to UT in the fall.
I really do appreciate the support. Just feeling pretty useless because I have no value for the state.
My son is severely asthmatic and has a neurological condition, so is at very high risk. His wife works for a highly respected medical research facility and knows more than most people about this, and they almost never leave their house. Even I, who mask up and don’t socialize, present a slight risk, in part because I get there via Uber and train. They’re highly informed and not willing to take the risk (either direction), and I don’t blame them. The stakes are too high.
My daughter lives across the state. It’s a 9-hour train ride to get there, which means other passengers would be maskless part of the time to eat and drink–a risk. She can’t drive here for various reasons, including her job.
We Zoomed recently and planned to get together for my birthday in September because we assumed we’d all be vaccinated by then. Now it looks like none of us will be.
Meanwhile, there are my siblings. My eldest sister lost her husband in June to COVID and dementia. We couldn’t be there for the funeral, so she pinned her hopes on us all being together this summer. She’s emotionally dependent on me and calls me her life coach. When I said recently I couldn’t’ guarantee I’d be with them this summer, she cried.
The solution, really, is for me to get the damned vaccine. Honestly–and I know this sounds awful–if I could jump the line, I would. The system isn’t based on who’s been good and followed the rules, and I get why that is, but people are lying and have been cheating and now are getting vaccinated ahead of me, and if the system is going to screw me over, screw the system. Pains me to say because I was raised to have integrity.
I’m sorry she’s in the “Sucks to be you” group. IMy daughter is a reporter and considered an essential worker but is still at the end of the line here, meaning fall. May would be great for my daughter, who’s a reporter and therefor an essential worker but is still at the end of the line. TN must be doing a better job at distribution than Washington. Hope you all get vaccinated before Fang leaves.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to sort. And watch some hockey tonight.
Dude!
: tacklehug :
Mouse M, I’m Group 3 in the state. And considering I have asthma, and we ship vaccines to hospitals, you’s think I’d rate higher
And you’re not expendable, Nellie.
Well - we all know what rabbits do best
When dogs twitch in their sleep, people often say they’re dreaming about chasing rabbits.
When rabbits dream, do they finally get to be the one chasing the dog?
Morning, mumpers! It’s grey and dismal again here. The weather app says “This weather is like watching two ants fuck. It’s just not that fucking exciting” and promises me 6C/43F up to 10C/50F partly cloudy with mist and fog. Hmm…no mist and fog but plenty of cloud out there.
I’m seriously pissed off with our Business School, they’re causing me more and more problems with their refusal to use the central timetabling system and indeed, refusal to part with any useful information at all.
nellie I’m sorry you are feeling sad but you are a vital part of the MMP so you’re most definitely not expendable! I’m in Group 9 over here which means I might get my first vaccine shot in May/June if I’m lucky. Of course, Bogbrush the Horned Whippetshagger seems bound and determined to mess that up for everyone with his latest idiocy.
The LAs and Tonka sorry to hear that Tonka is poorly but good to know that he’s comfortable and cared for, that’s pretty much all you can do for them.
flytrap don’t be a stranger!!
Maus welcome to the madhouse
Nellie - if I may offer a bit of hope - J&J is looking to get emergency approval for its single-shot vaccine. Once that happens, there should be lots more doses available in fairly short order. Plus, face it, we’ve now got competency in the administration, so it’s more likely that overall production and distribution will increase. Try not to dwell on the negs!!
FCD wants to go to Cracker Barrel for breakfast - he figures getting there at opening on a Tuesday should be fairly safe. Especially a freezing, nasty Tuesday, assuming they are, in fact, open. Worst case, we’ll drive across the street to McD’s instead. We’ll be leaving in about 5-10 minutes.
After breakfast, first plan is the valence. Then maybe some laundry. I bought a chicken yesterday - it’ll be rotissed for supper, but I may go ahead and put the rub on early. Beyond that, no real plans, altho I do have yet another lap robe in progress, trying to use up the last of the donated yarn.
I’ve got a large bag of wool and wool blend yarn - I can’t use it for nursing home blankets, but I can’t bring myself to throw it away. Could any of you use it? Or have suggestions for what I can do with it? There’s so much of it, I suppose I could make a rug. Ideas solicited…
Almost time to go. Happy Tuesday!!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 33 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 53 and N.O.S. for the day. I need to take care of some errands today so I shall get out and about for a while. Since I’ll be over that way, I shall go ahead and make a Sam’s run as well. Fun. Sup shall be fried chikin tenders, veggies leftover from Sunday (N.O.T., carrots, and peas 'n butterbeans with okra) and rolls. Yestiddy the power went off a total of six times. Each time was less than a minute, but enough to mess up the microwave and stove clocks and cause the doorbells to ring as soon as it came back on. Weird.
Nellie sorry you’re feelin’ so down about the vaccine. However, you are valuable to your family and to us. Never forget that.
Mouse M welcome!
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas, alack, woe of woe, and bother of bothers, I suppose I must purtify and don appropriate bein’ about the public attire. Oh the difficulty that is my life!
Happy Tuesday Y’all!
