Fartin' and burpin' in the MMP! Welcome to the Shortest Month in the MMP!

Back from breakfast. Unfortunately, we picked the day that our favorite server was off. On the plus side, she still works there, so we just need to go when she’s on the schedule.

It’s snowing - not very heavily, and not for long if the forecast is to be believed. I’m almost done with my morning internettin’, so about to start my chores. Rah.

nellie, you are absolutely not expendable. You are extremely important to us and your family. This whole vaccine rollout is needlessly confusing. Hopefully it will get better soon.

Hugs to you and the Mr. and Mrs. LA, and whoever needs them.

Today is bright and beautiful and cold. I’m semi-motivated to do things, which is better than most days. I’ve pumped myself up to put on my cranky contract negotiator hat. I’m way too nice generally, so pretty sure about 80% of my work is spent faking it. Which means I’ve practically scripted my side of the meeting with all possibilities so I don’t fold because I’m going up against a bunch of lawyers with no support, so that’ll be fun.

Yep, this is who negotiates contracts - people who have no idea what the heck they’re doing along with people who just want you to leave them alone so provide you with guidance only on the $$ part then run like hell in the opposite direction.

Morning all. It’s a balmy 31F outside heading to 45F, so despite there being almost no chance of rain, probably will make this an indoor day. Might even do some cleaning around the place.

nellie, it’s hard, I know, but remember, you’ll never walk alone as long as we are here.

boo fae, sounds like the Business School is giving you the business (USA slang, not sure if it’s British or not).

I’m in group 1C in Alabama, between 64-75 in age, but they are still working their way through 1A and 1B and no idea when I’ll be up. And I just put another chunk of money in my vacation savings, dammit, I want to go somewhere!!!

OK, rant over and all y’all take care.

FCM, haven’t been to Cracker Barrel for Breaking Fast in a long time…might have to try it.

Fast day, so only coffee and water since dinner last night. I’m almost back down to where I was before Thanksgiving.

Turkey, rump roast, and more cookies than you can shake a stick at tend to make my pants shrink.

Much to my chagrin, I still haven’t received my $600 stimulus. BUT this morning, I received the first payment of the underemployment money I applied for way back in late October.

So … woo hoo? I mean, it’s welcome relief of course, and definitely still needed.

Morning, all. Tango was very Tigger-ish this morning, so we were all up early. Pixel managed another liquid precision puke, this time into my right slipper, which fact I did not discover until I took my first step after putting them on. Not something I want as part of my Groundhog Day infinite loop. It’s amazing how many finches can hang on one bird feeder, but since I switched to almost 100% nyjer seed, the little crackheads just can’t stop snacking. Keeps the kitties occupied, anyway.

nellie - The state may not put you at the top of their list, but you’re at the top of ours!

FCM - Breakfast in public. What a novel concept! I haven’t had a sit-down breakfast out in…years, it seems.

My district has gotten assurances from the county that as soon as they get their next big shipment of vaccines, they will start vaccinating all us teachers at one of the school sites. Since I am over 65 and have seniority over pretty much the whole damn district, I’ll be at the front of the line. Eventually. Relying on my county to do something efficiently is a mug’s game.

Home from sorting and heaving. Since it’s Ground Hog Day and Taco Tuesday, I had chorizo and egg tacos for breakfast.

It’s the first time we’ve done it in forever. I think there were 4 other occupied tables in the restaurant, so we picked a good time for avoidance.

Since being back, I’ve been messing with tax stuff, trying to get everything together for the accountant. I’m so glad this is the last time we’ll have all this business stuff to deal with. And it’s compounded by FCD’s surgery last May - I don’t know if we have enough medical bills to take a deduction, and I really don’t want to have to dig them all out. I’ve got bank statements to document how much was paid to whom, and I’m hoping that will suffice. Waiting to hear back from the accountant.

And I just found out a good friend of mine had COVID in Oct - she’s keeping it quiet and since none of you know her, I figure I can mention it here. She said it wasn’t enough to hospitalize her, but she’s my age and obese, so that’s got to have been a rough ride for her.

OK, back to gathering tax crap. rah.

As usual, he said it much better than I did, but this, this many times over and with great earnestness.

Mumpers, you’re some of my favorite people, and I can’t thank you enough for the kind words. You’re all tops in my book! I should have clarified that to the STATE I’m apparently expendable. The rep I spoke with yesterday was so kind, and she was confounded that I’m so low on the list, so it’s not the whole state government, just TPTB.

The COVID rep said even WITH additional doses coming, I’d probably have to wait because the state is short of vaccine. We’re way behind the timeline the state set, and as elsewhere, even people who ARE eligible can’t get the vaccine.

Sorry I ranted so last night. It doesn’t help anything, and it clutters up the thread.

Today’s schedule includes signing my lease for next year–rent is going up yet again, but if I sign up now, they’ll lock in that rate, whereas if I wait until the moratorium expires, it’ll go up even more. Then I 'll walk the three miles to my dentist appointment. It stopped raining, which is a blessing.

Doggio, the Ground Hog-chorizo joke made me LOL.

Quietly, I’m glad you’ll be the line leader. As I recall from my kids’ elementary school days, that’s a great honor and gives you bragging rights–or, more importantly, the vaccine.

shoe, yay on the belated n employment check. Hope you get the stimulus check soon.

Maus_Magill, congrats on the weight loss. Since we already have a very kindly Mouse, I’d like to propose Magic, based on your second name (spelling, not pronunciation).

Must move laundry. More later.

I like “Magic”. All in favor?

I’m trying a new medicine today, and I am wiped out. I’m supposed to get PT today and it just seems overwhelming to do that right now. We’ll see. I might re-schedule. Wrong day to switch meds.

Nellie it didn’t seem like a rant to me and, of course, you’re among friends! Please share. {{{hugs}}}

'Beamette has told me that she doesn’t want to cook dinner again because the kitchen wasn’t cleaned after her last effort. I applaud her sensibilities here, but we’ll never eat again.

Just finished the valences - pic in FB. Now I’m going to assume the crochet position and turn on AcornTV for a bit.

It’s still flurrying here - I’m surprised, since it was supposed to end a couple of hours ago.

We had a wee bit of snow yesterday. Today, I ate lunch looking a sunny, blue skies. The outside is trying to trick me into taking a walk. But I’m on to it. It’s 35º out there.

Just a couple of more weeks, and I can take the bike off the trainer.

Nine more days until we can file a work order for the washer! I’ve been wearing my shirts for a week at a time, and we won’t talk about underwear and socks.

Got my hand slapped by Facebook for calling some dimwit a dimwit. Apparently the dimwit reported me. Fuckin’ dimwit. I guess I’ll be hearing from the FBI soon.

We graduated to the two-mask protection today. It’s getting more difficult to keep up with things. Still no idea when or if we’ll get vaccinations, but that just makes us part of the large majority. At least athletes and coaches are getting theirs, if I’m hearing right.

We’re just about done with our third go around with Great Courses Spanish I (30 lessons). We also did Spanish II (also 30 lessons) after the first go with the first course, but will be going through it twice more as well. This is a very good course, if anyone is interested in learning workable Spanish. It comes with a workbook, etc. The instructor is a professor of Spanish at a university. Helps pass the time.

Rain, rain, rain.

No, it is exactly what the thread is for and exactly what I’m here to listen to. Plus, selfishly, I wanna be able to rant when Just That Kind Of Stuff happens to me. So keep at it. Always here and always have the time to listen and commiserate.

Sounds apt to me.

Howdy Y’all! We had a late N.O.L./early sup. This mornin’, in honor of ground hawg day, I made snausage 'n bizkits. We kinda made pigs of ourselves with that, so neither of us wanted real N.O.L. Thus we postponed.

I like Magic as a nickname. So mote it be!

Cookie I lurves me some Manhattan Transfer!

One of my all time favorite Manhattan Transfer songs:

{{{{{nellie}}}}} You are definitely neither alone nor expendable!

Never ask a sailor for suggestions on what to do with something…

Stimulus check site still says " We are unable to provide the status of your payment right now because:

  • We don’t have enough information yet (we’re working on this), or
  • You’re not eligible for a payment."

:frowning:  We do meet all of the eligibility requirements on the FAQ page, so what the heck? :frowning:

My backside still aches, even with the lidocaine patch on it…

Stimulus check site (for me) returns an error, which is worrisome:

Errors have occurred:
The information you have entered does not match our records.

Harrumph.

Well, couldn’t deal with that today, as I was asked to come in & cover someone’s shift. Yay! While there, they asked if I could cover another full shift Thursday. Since my plans for that day had involved twiddling my thumbs & worrying about money, I assured TPTB that I was, indeed, available.

That makes tomorrow my one (1) day off this week. That should boost my next paycheck a bit.

I think imma celebrate by letting the good folks at Popeye’s fix my dinner tonight. Some greasy fried chicken and zero cleanup sounds like a plan to me.

You’re one sick puppy - I like that in a person!

Supper was good - the chickie roasted up nicely and there’s tons left over. I’m seeing chickie pot pie and/or chickie salad later in the week.

FCD may be heading to Ocala in the morning. He got his folks an appointment for shots… in Orlando at the airport. He was trying to give his dad the address - even spelling out the street name - and his dad got more and more confused. He should NOT be driving all that way, especially for a late afternoon appointment, which means they’ll be driving home after dark. But we’re going to try early in the morning to get them an appointment at a Publix near them. This would be so much easier if the governor of FL wasn’t such an ass, abdicating any semblance of leadership during this crisis…

< deep cleansing breaths >

OK, time to load the dishwasher then resume the crochet position.

Evening all. Dinner has been dined on and dishes will shortly go in the washer. Also managed to mop the kitchen and library and used carpet cleaner on a stain (and it seems to have worked just fine, stain is gone), so I have tried to be a useful citizen today. Got to give brother a call, missed him yesterday.

Temperature is down to 37F heading for 24F and we’re almost at 30,000 COVID cases for the county (albeit that’s a whole year’s worth and only about 8% of the population). So more reasons to stay inside.

FCM, good luck on getting the in-laws shots…is it the 2-jab procedure, if so, he might need a couple of trips. And the curtains look good.

Concur with Magic; so it shall be written, so it shall be done.

quietly, hope the vaccines come soon.

cookie, hope the clothes hold out. And dimwits will be dimwits…next time you have the urge, go to the Pit section here and let loose…

OK, need to place dishes where the dishes belong and maybe put a few more things in place. Toilet paper count is now 82 rolls, which should meet even swampy’s stringent requirements.

Take care all.
