Fast food shame?

I have cut way back on FF, mainly for dietary purposes. We do still do it 3 to 4 times a month, and mostly go to a McDonald’s that has a big play land so my five year old can play there. When there is snow and below zero temps here 6 months of the year, we have to find something he can do to be active.

And, he usually gets the “healthiest” option of a happy meal. Hamburger, apple slices, white milk. I have just been getting a happy meal too, since the portion size is about what we should all be eating anyway. It is also a lot cheaper, and I get a toy!

I just started Weight Watchers as well, and I know we aren’t supposed to treat ourselves with food, but I still do. Once a week after my meeting, I save enough “points” to go get a burger at either McDonald’s, or Hardee’s, or a sit down place, that has diner type foods.

If it keeps you on the diet, and you’re losing weight, I say, “Go for it!”

Cheers,

bcg

I would happily have Pizza and Subs regularly, but they are not permitted on my diet. But if I had them, I wouldn’t be at all ashamed to admit it. I enjoy both.

Taco Bell bean burritos. With the Taco Bell hot sauce… Mmmmmmmm

That’s the only fast food available around where I am. I didn’t know you could get them in the States. Are they the real deal? I.e. Do they look like this?

ETA I just noticed you mention lettuce. That’s just wrong. The only things in a gyros should be meat, tomatoes, chopped red onion and tzatziki. Some people add chips, but not for me. And it has to be proper Greek pita, not the thin stuff with pockets.

I enjoy fast food and am not ashamed to admit it.
If all the people who pretend that they dont eat fast food really didn’t eat it then most fast food places would be out of business.

Hey, that’s what those discretionary points are for. Use 'em or lose 'em. And enjoy every single bite.

I live near Santa Cruz, the home of ‘breatharians’ that get caught scarfing down hot dogs behind 7-11 so nothing surprises me. No female I know admits to eating it but at least half the cars I see in the drive-through have women in them. I ate it through college, then was a vegetarian for about 20 years and now I wouldn’t waste calories on it. I don’t think that I would lie about it if I ate it but the only times I have were when I was on the road and there was no place else to eat. They didn’t have salads back then so I would pay for a big mac or whopper but get them to hold the meat.

I know LA is not know for shameless consumption of fast food, but everybody here’s gone to In-N-Out at some point, whether or not they admit it. I used to like McDonalds and Taco Bell, but I started liking other stuff better. I mean, I’ll have a Jumbo Jack or a Big n’Tasty if I’m short of cash and have no other option, but I prefer other fast-food places. There’s a Jack-in-the-Box and a Del Taco near my work, but I prefer the nearby bank’s employee cafeteria for lunch, as they have a salad bar and taco Tuesdays, plus fresh-squeezed orange juice. There’s a Subway and other places a few minutes’ drive away, but since I have no car, I can only watch my coworkers enviously as they bring their bags from Subway, In-N-Out and Yoshinoya, all places I patronize whenever I have the chance, which is not often. Oh, yeah, I forgot - I adore Zankou chicken! I try to have some whenever I go to Pasadena, or at least take some home - I swear that garlic sauce is addictive.

Yes! Well, I live in Central NY State. There are a surprising number of diners (and Greek diners) and also pizza restaurants that sell gyros, and they are everywhere at the NYS fair in September.

I am a woman, and I go through the drive-through of Wendy’s or Burger King once or twice a month to grab something , when I am absolutely famished after being busy all day and on the way home. (If I have time, I’ll go inside, but I usually eat on the way home.) I’m not “ashamed”, but I am secretive. This is because I can buy a Whopper Jr. for under $2, and if I bring it home, the Hungry Mouths gather like flies and whine “why didn’t you bring home something for US???” Because each of them wants the full meal and I don’t have an extra $30 to buy each of them their own personal pigout, too!
