Fast Food Survey Prizes

McDonalds, Burger King, Taco Bell and many others-When you receive your receipt there is(more often than not) a chance to win a prize if you fill out a survey either on the phone or online. These prizes range from a food item to cash, and I was wondering if anyone had ever actually one something from taking one of these surveys.

All the time; last weekend, I cashed in a survey receipt for a Chik-fil-A sandwich. Several times, the receipt was for $5 off your next meal at the particular restaurant.

McDonalds isn’t so much a prize as a straight up coupon. If you fill out the survey you get a code that entitles you to get a free Big Mac or Egg McMuffin with the purchase of another Big Mac or Egg McMuffin. I’ve done this several times, it’s fairly easy.

Never due to a lottery-type prize but McDonald’s offers a straight Buy-One-Get-One for Quarter Pounders or Egg McMuffins when you do the survey and I’ve taken advantage of that before.

The ones I see are for a discount off a future purchase, not a prize. Burger King offers a free Whopper with purchase of fries and a drink, for example.

Like the above, Burger King offers a free whopper for filling out the survey.

Taco Bell offers a $500 prize.

Can you use the 2nd receipt to get another deal, and so on ad infinitum? Or does the new code tell McDonald’s not to validate it?

Mimi’s Cafe used to offer four muffins (I’d usually complete the survey while I waited for the server to process my card, write the verification number down on the receipt, and collect the muffins on the way out the door); now they only offer two, and it has to be on a subsequent visit, so I don’t bother any more. I now let them draw their own conclusions about my satisfaction from my level of repeat business.

I believe it’s ad infinitum, or at least it’s usable on your third visit [not sure how to say that in Latin :)].

Ad tertium.

Just for completeness’s sake: at Walmart the receipts tell you to take the survey to be entered in a drawing for a $1000 Visa gift card. I don’t bother.

Save-A-Lot, an Aldi-type grocery store chain, used to do this. If you got a receipt with the survey notice, you called the 800 number and did a short survey. You got a code which entitled you to either a box of their mac and cheese or a loaf of bread (their choice). I always used the opportunity.

Del Taco gives you a validation number good for a dollar off your next purchase for filling out an on-line survey. AFAIK, having done several dozen of the surveys over the years, you can repeat ad infinitum.

Getting back to fast food instead of the grocery store I posted about before, I used to fill out the survey cards found in holders on the table in Burger Chefs and other places. I know I got a couple of free Super Chef burger coupons in the mail that way. I rarely eat out any more, so I don’t know if any chain restaurants still use those survey cards. Did anyone else get stuff after filling them out and dropping them in the box or mailing them in?
