The recent “done-in-a-day” experience with sweetpoet amazed me that a putz can behave so poorly that he got banned the very day he joined.
Apart from sock puppetry, what’s the record for fastest banning due to jaw-droppingly poor behavior?

Some people get banned before their first posts due to wildly ill-advised user naming practices.
A lot of spambots get banned immediately upon making their first post. It’s just that we don’t usually see it because the mods are so good about immediately removing the evidence.
A very long time ago, a returning poster was banned before they completed setting up their new account. That’s pretty much as fast as you can get.
A few years ago we had a micro-invasion from another board. IIRC there were two posters and a couple of sacks. They whole thing was over in two or three hours.
Banning guests is nothing. I’d like to know who had the shortest stint as a paying member.
Less than a day, certainly, for people who were very close to the line, then paid up and shot themselves in the foot.
Wow! How long does it take to set up a new account? Mine was so long ago I can’t remember.
How did “they” catch it? Was the information provided similar to the original account, or did they do it from the same ISP, or both?

It actually was about 6 months ago.
I banned a guest who, for the sake of my faulty memory, say his name was DoperDude, had just posted some spam. When I returned from the banning screen, I looked at the bottom of the board, noticed the Newest Poster announcement said that DoperDude1 had just registered. I went right back and banned him as well, before he could complete his registration.
Note: The name DoperDude was pulled out of my ass. I can’t remember the guy’s actual name. Suffice it to say that’s pretty dumb, re-registering as Name1 immediately after being banned.
No, it was Tubadiva, and it was back around when I started posting. Can’t remember any other details to search on.
Typically the Authorities don’t like to reveal their specific methodologies for pinpointing the ne’er-do-wells, lest said n-d-w’s exploit said revelations and develop tactics for evading said methodologies.
