For me, when I was very young, my family was friends with a Cherokee medicine man, and he told us all kinds of stories, including about the time that the Klan beat him and left him for dead because he refused to accept Christ as his personal savior. We saw Unto These Hills (and unfortunately ahistoric account of the events leading to the Trail of Tears) when I was in the primary grades. It is bizarre to suggest that everyone needs to raise their kids as some middle-class suburbanites raised you.

And by bullshit, I mean his supposed relation to the Eastern Band, and by stories, I mean the one where the Eastern Band didn’t go on the Trail of Tears which is why they are the Eastern Band that lives in the East.

LHOD, well, perhaps you’re right. But the way Liberal goes on and on and on about it, it sounds like that’s ALL she told him about. That’s ALL he ever seems to remember about his grandmother.
Or maybe, to be perfectly honestly, I’m just biased because it’s Lib. I don’t trust him, because he’s told so many crazy ass stories that contradict one another (NOT anything here in particular), and from the way he talks, it sounds like she was extremely bitter and angry. Again, that is just MY impression.
Either way, the whole thing is a freaking obsession for him, and he’s becoming a one-trick-pony.

I have an irrational faith that you’re not so stupid as to believe that the Eastern Band doesn’t care about the ToT or to believe that they feel unaffected by it–but that irrational faith of mine means I have no way of understanding your point here.

Some posters here are really disturbed people. They are offended by Lib’s very existence on these boards and will spend inordinate energy stalking him where ever he posts and harassing him whenever they can. They will enter GD threads that they have not participated in to insult him. They will activate sleeper socks to harangue him (and throw in some hate-trolling while they’re at it). They will accuse other posters of lying in MPSIMS. They for some reason are passionately hateful about something that no rational person would give a shit about (or at least only be mildly annoyed or bemused at). Pitting Lib isn’t enough for these sickos - they will not rest until Lib is either driven out or tarred and feathered.
Eventually some will get themselves banned for repetitive insults outside the Pit and for their stalking behaviors but the day will not come soon enough.
If you read between the lines (so to speak) most so-called ‘fairy tales’ and fables deal with just these very topics, slightly modified for kiddie-consumption of course!
