It’s hard not to be sensitive when people constantly pair the terms “fat” and “slob,” as if one always follows the other.
People constantly pair these? Used alone, I relate slob more to college students rather than overweight people.

I’m a slob myself and I am actually really offended with the OP. I mean what does being a slob have to do with it? are all slobs fat? are all slobs attention whores? VCO3 I think you should really think about who you might be hurting when you write such things. You really can be so disrespectful.

Things are getting way too sensitive. I’m fat, I am having no success in dealing with it. I don’t find the use of the word fat dreadfully upsetting.

The OP should frame this and read it daily if he, by any chance, wants to grow up.
I know some people are amused by his ranting, but it seems more and more like some kind of bizarre attention-getting behavior. Hell, it’s hard to stand out on this board. Being of average intelligence and wit - even slightly above average in those categories won’t get you attention, either. So I guess the OTT ranting that invites a pile-on is one way to gain attention and status of sorts.
The woman in question certainly appears to have behaved dishonestly, but in a strange way she seems to have done some good. So I can’t join in the hate completely… I still think she’s got serious psychiatric problems.
I would like to read more about this fakers, impostors, whatever. They seem to crop up all the time.

“Fat” is a word that has legitimate use as a descriptor, obviously. When used as a pejorative, its primary effect is usually going to be a well-deserved backlash for the user, often to the point of derailing a perfectly good session of RO.
I take no position on the question of whether the subject at hand is a perfectly suitable candidate for RO.
Well she is fat. But I wasn’t clear on whether there is any evidence that she was nowhere near the WTC on the day in question. It sounded more like she was being slammed because of inconsistencies but no one disproved that she was actually there.
The daughter of a friend of mine was there. She was in one tower working a temp job. She was on the 80-something floor, or sometimes it was a 50-something floor [wasn’t anybody on the third floor? The 7th floor? How come everybody was up so high?] and doesn’t remember how she got out, doesn’t remember how she got back to her place, which was on the other end of Manhattan. She was supposed to get married on the Saturday after that, but she didn’t, not because anything happened to him but because she changed her mind. She basically can’t remember much of the whole year after the event. She couldn’t get out of bed the next day because she was so sore, now she tells people she had to stay in bed for a week, but that’s not true because a week later she was home with her mom, and she stayed maybe a month before she went back to NY. So, is she lying?
A couple of years ago she started telling people stories about her adventures escaping from the tower. Her mom thinks the more she talks, the more it comes back for her, but the thing is, she is very inconsistent. Like the thing with the floors. She’d been on that job for a couple of days, but she’d temped for other companies in the building–you would think she could remember a thing like that, whether she was on the 50th floor or the 80th, very specifically, but she can’t. A person who only met her recently might well conclude she is lying. And yet there’s no question she was there.
She is, however, not talking about it for profit, or charity, or attention–well, maybe attention. She’s a very dramatic kid. And she is not fat.
I won’t say to whom I’m replying to a little ways upthread, but I remember I once emailed a mod and asked if it would be okay to start a thread asking ourselves what our responsibility as members is to other members when we can see them becoming more and more unhinged. Many of us enjoy a trainwreck maybe more than we should, but should we take it upon ourselves to take a step back from a debate/argument sometimes when you have someone on the ropes. As long as I didn’t mention that particular member the topic was fine, said the mod.
Sometimes it seems like a member could be moving closer and closer to sort of going off the deep end, and what they need is not to be corrected, but just a timeout. I remember the “I pit Satan” thread, where the mods gave the OP a one day timeout; and that was all he needed to come back to normal and still hang around here all normal and stuff (well, normal as far as he goes 
).
I never saw VCO3 like that. Maybe it’s because he feeds off the negativity rather than trying to answer to it. I don’t think this makes him a troll, just a guy who likes to act a little over the top every now and then. If this was all he ever posted then I might be concerned, but he can seem fairly normal in other forums.
While I don’t think he’ll take the advice seriously I would like to take a moment to speak honestly and thank lissener for post #14. Instead of addressing what was said you instead identified a possible damaging habit for the OP. So while VCO3 doesn’t really show the classic signs of flaming out in a Pit thread, at least you took the time to not jump all over and instead offer some help.

I think the main problem is, VCO3 didn’t really seem to care about her actions so much as her appearance. What difference does it make how she looks? She’s still a selfish, greedy bitch.
It didn’t have jackshit to do with the real problem. It sounded immature and pathetic. Which, with VCO3, is pretty much par for the course.
