This is a deplorable topic. Did some teenager post it? I hate thinking that there are adults running around, thinking this is an acceptable topic of discussion. Brings down the board, imo.
How so? Granted, the original post is stated crudely but I see nothing wrong with the direction the discussion has taken.
I was commenting on the thread topic. Should have said, thread title?
And I wouldn’t be so up on the discussion because why the fuck does it have to be discussed? Sure, enlightened individuals are coming in to counter the title, but why does anyone have to? Such petty obsessions are beneath us.
: raises hand : definitely me
I’ve wondered about your name for a year or so now. I had decided it wasn’t related to wookies, but had no idea what it did mean. Once I spent a few minutes trying to make anagrams of it and that came to nothing.
I had no opinion on whether you were large or small. Middle-aged I figured.
But I *was *90% sure you were a guy. :smack:
Wha . . ? Why does anything we talk about here *need *to be discussed? It’s a message board whose very purpose is for discussing all manner of subjects.
Do you express your disdain for all topics here that you deem petty (that must keep you quite busy) or does this particular subject strike some kind of nerve?
Well, there goes 93% of the threads here.
WOOKIN, I always got your name and even knew you were female for some reason. It must be one of those middle-aged chick things.
The OP of this thread is just ugly. Ugly in character. I see other threads that are pointless certainly, and I don’t say a word. To me, this kind of thing is insulting to a certain subset of humans. It’s not all that different from insulting someone’s race. (Sure, go ahead and argue with that.) So to me it’s worth it to register my distaste.
Your comment about the subject “striking a nerve” is another ugly little thing in this thread. With that remark, you disqualify yourself as an objective voice.
That part is in reference to the vehemence with which you expressed your distaste, nothing more. Apologies if it came of as a personal attack; I was just surprised at your passion over the matter.
Calm down tapu. Your pearl clutching isn’t helping matters.
I think the point is that people who are overweight/fat usually know it. We don’t need people like the OP or Jackmannii reminding us how harmful we are to “community mental health.”
Sigh … Another “don’t fat people realize I think they look fat and ugly?” thread.
My gf is friends with singer/songwriter Amy Rigby, so we went backstage after seeing her at an outdoor concert. When gf introduced us, I looked her in the eye and said, “ya know, those jeans make your ass look huge.” Pins dropped; I heard them all. Everyone just stared at me. Then she had an epiphany and began laughing, stepped toward me, and we hugged.
I was wearing shorts, with sandals. She does a song lamenting how bad men look in sandals.
ETA: hope my attempt at lightening the mood works.
“Don’t they know how fat and ugly they look?”
Let me put that one to rest – I know every minute of every day how fat and ugly I am. Somehow I manage to pull myself out of bed and support myself and get through the day. And for a few moments sometimes I can forget how fat and ugly I am. But not for long.
Sounds like you could still use some reminders, given your occasional forgetfulness. I think we all owe the OP some gratitude here.
Uh-huh.
Translation: I’ve called you out and you hate to look bad.
Alrighty then. Why don’t you just go and start a pit thread and get all your angst out. It might make you feel better, dear.
No, you didn’t, much as you’d like to think so.
Good point.
