Not everyone has to be attractive and/or thin in this life. A person can have a lot of good, valuable qualities unrelated to those two.
Dude, just stop.
Because it’s too much to expect adult human beings to have any manners at all and shut the fuck up with comments about the appearance of others.
Men wear things that “shows off their body” all the time, and no one runs around judging them, FFS. Guys with huge amounts of back hair wearing a tank top, I’m talking to you! STOP WEARING THOSE. Also stop wearing them if you have stick arms or a beer gut. We don’t want to see that, either.
Yeah, you don’t hear that often in the public discourse. “Wow, that dude has fat thighs, he shouldn’t wear shorts.”
You do hear remarks about fat women wearing yoga pants…or short skirts…or showing off their boobs. I kid you not, I once read a post that asked why fat women spend “so much” time on their makeup, hair, and nails, 'cause yanno, they’re fat. Obviously fat women should just put on a burqa and have done with it.
It boils down to the social expectation that women’s appearance belongs to others, not to the women themselves. If she dresses up too much, she’s high-maintenance. If she doesn’t dress up, she’s a slob. Men are generally taken at face value – no guy I know has ever felt the need to defend his outfit while running errands on a Saturday. That’s the difference.
