Favorite Beatles song?

I agree. Hands down!

Changes from month to month, but “Something” and “Long and Winding Road” are two of the most frequent.

ETA: and I read somewhere that LAWR was the final straw that broke the Beatles up, when Paul hated the arrangement with the added strings and choir. I like strings and choir.

I love Hey, Bulldog. My favorite, though, is probably For No One.

Bart: Wow… Mr. Flanders is really into The Beatles
Milhouse: What are the Beatles??
Bart: They wrote all the songs on Maggie’s baby records…

“Something.” My answer may change depending on the day you ask me, but that’s probably the one I would answer more days than others. “Tomorrow Never Knows” is another one that’s up there. Oh, and “Things We Said Today.”

For me, it’s The Long and Winding Road. I know it’s been criticized for being over-produced, but the French horn is lovely (I played French horn in school). I like it because it’s the last song on the Blue album, which to me signals the end of the band’s era. I can say pretty much the same about Across the Universe, the last full song on the Let It Be album.

Ok, since people are giving more than one:

Sexie Sadie
I Saw Her Standing There
Hey Jude
Here Comes the Sun
Strawberry Fields Forever

It’s often mentioned as their worst, but I love it: She’s leaving home.

Runners up would be A day in the life, Blackbird, The ballad of John and Yoko, Eleanor Rigby and so many others. And I love to do Back in the USSR at Karaoke nights.

I’ll Cry Instead is kind of fun. But probably not my all-time favorite. Maybe In My Life, I love the harmonizing; and Help! is a great one. Tough question.

Like the old Lays Potato Chips commercial went, noone can have just one!

  1. A Day in the Life
  2. Eleanor Rigby
  3. Norwegian Wood
  4. Here Comes the Sun

Most overrated: Come Together

And what about… And I Love Her.

Dear Prudence

“The Inner Light”

Playing it in in my head now, I’m pretty sure “Dig It” follows, followed by “Let it Be”, and then “Maggie Mae”. Granted, two of those might be called not full but there is Let It Be.

Early: I Call Your Name

Long and Winding Road
Helter Skelter
Being For the Benefit of Mr. Kite

Hey Jude number 1

All you Need is Love number 2

Hide Your Love Away number 3

Changes regularly. So much to enjoy. I tend to focus more on the songs in and around Revolver - She Said She Said, Rain, I’m Only Sleeping.

It was Hide Your Love Away for years.

Another vote for You’ve Got to Hide Your Love Away. (Ahem.)

Also visually the best song in Help!.

Actually I think of the whole album Abbey Road as one song, so that’s my (cheatin’) answer.

I hope everyone has seen the Beatles movie on Hulu.

Rain.

I mean, I could pick 10, or 20, or 50… but if I had to pick one, that’s the one that leapt to my mind.
