Favorite Cookie?

Lebkuchen (but made without nuts as I’m allergic)
Pfeffernusse
Real sugar cookies made with real butter
Oatmeal scotchies
Shortbread.

Have you had the same ‘no one knows what you’re talking about’ thing? When I worked in an office, I made them one year when we had the ‘cookie conversation’ and then when I brought them, they were asked for like I’d given a drug to an addict. "hey, hey, you got some of those scotchies?’

I meant oatmeal scotchies. Every year after: “Are you making those cookies again? Those good ones?”

The ones. Chefguy is making.

The rest of the top five:

Date nut pinwheels
Pfefferneusse
Molasses
Tollhouse

Top choice for me: Chewy white or dark chocolate macadamia nut.

Seasonal fave: Gingerbread Man w/out frosting or decorations.

Bloody spear-head cookies.

I’ve seen plenty of recipes call for unsalted butter and have no salt in the ingredients, though.

Here’s the recipe for my wife’s internationally-famous Carnahan Ginger Drops. They are incredibly good; I’ve been known to request them instead of cake for my birthday.

3/4 cup margerine
3/4 cup shortening
2 cups sugar
2 eggs
1/2 cup light molasses
3 1/4 cups flour
2 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cloves
2 tbsp. ginger

Beat margerine, shortening, sugar and eggs until light and fluffy. Add molasses. Add flour sifted with baking soda, cinnamon, cloves and ginger. Drop by teaspoonfuls on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake 8-10 mins. at 375 degrees. Makes about 7 doz. cookies.

Enjoy!

I like espresso shortbread, cranberry, oat and white chocolate, and (not that they are really biscuits) but Ottolenghi’s meringues.

I made dark chocolate mint cookies (recipe on the back of Nestle Tollhouse mint morsels) today. Quite tasty.

Is there anything those Nestlé guys can’t morselize?

Yes, I have! And then they take a bite and say, “These are good!” followed by, “Wow, they’re sweet!”, followed by, “Can I have another?”

Choosing a favorite cookie is like choosing a favorite child. I like all the cookies. I make all the cookies. If there are cookies to be had, I will have one. If I have not made cookies yet, I will be making them. Cookies are happiness.

that said, if I’m looking at a tray of cookies, I will probably choose to eat them in this order:

chocolate caramel shortbread
shortbread
Brown sugar cookies (ATK recipe)
oatmeal scotchie
chocolate chip (hopefully made with nuts)
chocolate with white chips and macadamia nuts
lemon bars

I could keep going here.

Picked up some macadamia nuts and almonds today. I predict some coconut morsel/macadamia nut and cherry morsel/almond cookies will be baked sometime this week.

Chocolate chip with walnuts, soft and chewy please
